Packers Question of the Day: Expectations for Thursday

It's the Packers. It's the Bears. It's Thursday Night Football.

For the 195th meeting between the two historic franchises, the Packers have a chance to take the lead in the all-time series, which is currently tied 94-94-6. It'll be the first time they have the series lead in over 80 years.

What are your expectations?

I expect this to be a tough game. Bears have played pretty well so far. They should be 2-1, beating 2 of the top teams in the league. They however are 1-2.
They almost always play the Packers tough no matter how good or bad they are.

Last years final game, the Bears came back to tie the game with 1 minute left. And it took a 60 yard play from Rodgers to Nelson with 3 seconds left to win the game.

The Packers missing their top 4 OT's and having a new snapper in 3 days before their game is far from ideal.

Without their top 2 OT's the offense will again look sluggish and will struggle some. I do believe they will have enough to outscore the Bears though.

I think this will be somewhat of a closer game something like 24-17, or something similar.
Maybe this is when the defense gets their first interception of the season?

I expect - the unexpected. And I hope MM and company can come up with it.

It will be hard to play 9 on 11 football when on offense. I'm hoping (with low expectations) that Mashed Potato Mike game plans to incorporate tons of quick passes, screens, and double TE sets to help slow the pass rush or I will expect to see Brett Hudley all too soon.... I expect Dom's D to stop the run and get an INT for the first time in 2017... I also expect Ha Ha to remain the most over rated Packer after Glennon gifts him an over throw...

Interesting.
I'd have to say it's possible, but too early to tell for sure.

HaHa needs more impact plays that's for sure... as much as we can rip on him and AJ Hawk let's at least appreciate the fact that they were and are always available to play. They stay healthy and are consistent which in today's NFL is of value.

Not sure I have ever seen 4 tackles out at one time. This is going to be a fight no doubt about it. Rodgers better have skates on or its going to be a very long night.

My prediction...

PAIN!

My expectation is for a defensive gem from the Pack.

No tackles and this team knows it. It is time for the defense to say "we got this" to ARod by their effort.

New tackles are still football players. Challenge them to be tough and lay into bear defenders and clear some running lanes. Lets go old school on offense for at least first half and first drive of second half no matter what the results are. (our defense "has this" and will keep us close enough for...

A seond half outburst through the air with some deep shots that pay off.

Lets see if Mashed Potato Mike can actually come up with a game plan that takes into account what the remaining players strengths are and incorporates the full roster and perhaps actually has some surprises for the opponent.

I expect a victory pushing the Packers in the lifetime series for the first time in almost a century!

THIS IS A GREAT MOMENT IN PACKER HISTORY!!!

Quite wishful thinking to believe the GB defense has "got this".
I'm a bit surprised at you - normally more grounded.
But I can appreciate the optimism.

Like most of the commenters I expect a controlled passing game but as I have said all season Kendricks is my secret weapon. Even before Bennett struggled a bit I loved 84 when he played fro the Rams and expect more of the same. I also expect Bennett to begin shaking out of his funk, I was pleased to hear unsolicited praise of him from the new long snapper about his dedication and extra work. This sort of effort is seldom unrewarded and over a long season I expect it to pay off. Back to the question at hand I think Packers win 21-17 and Jones might get his first pick tonite!

I agree with you about Kendricks.

Kendricks is the guy we need to get involved more in the passing game. He is a mismatch type of player. He is very reliable as well.

I expect 4 to be the decisive number in this game.
I expect 4 ............

4 Bear's TD drives of 10 plays or more, mostly running, plays behind a bruising line that the Nitro can't stop.

4 sacks of Rogers.

4 short arms from our receivers because a Bear defender was nearby.

4 drops..... flat out drops.

4 quarters with speedy receivers, who might get away from more massive Bear's dbs, sitting on the bench.

4 offensive tackles who are too injured to get the job done.

4 more players on the next injury list caused the more physical Bears.

only 4 Packers' drives before the 4th quarter.

4 game season record of 2-2;......... 31-14.

I hope the coaching staff realizes that the Bear's are a old NFL running team, and will not try to play pass offense and pass defense against it.

I expect MM to call the game of his life and that the team shocks the hell out of us, injuries or no injuries. Just a hunch. Could happen.

I'd rather he call the game of his life in Feb but, since that is a longer shot than some accept, the game of his life against any team at the juncture is moot...serves no purpose.

I'm expecting pretty much a replay of the Bengals game. With another tackle or 2 playing totally out of position I could see an offensive struggle at first, arod getting knocked around, ty getting 3.2 a carry, the bears striking with a couple quick scores, and Gb coming back to win

I expect victory. I detest Thursday football and this game is a perfect example of why. If this game was being played on Sunday as it should be the Packers would have at least one of their OTs back and even if not their replacements would have more time to prepare. I'm sure that the same is true for some of the Bears injured players.

Instead the league creates an unnecessary situation for 2 teams to go into a division game unable to put their best players on the field and unable to fully prepare those who will play. Regardless of who wins the quality of the on field product is diminished and both teams are unnecessarily exposed to further injuries.

Having said that I expect the Packers to prevail and take the lead in the all-time series versus the Bears. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

Bears can't pass, we can't stop the pass. That's a push.

Pack can pass but we have no OTs.

Bears can run and but we can stop the run, so that's a push.

Pack can't run.

Just can't see AROD losing to this Bears team at home.

Bears 14

I expect this to be another tough fought Bears/Packers division game. I always expect the Packers to win. The OL tackle issues are a huge concern, but Arod's mobility will be the difference. I predicted the first pick from our D would be last week, now I predict I was off by a week, lol. If the Packers can somehow start fast and make the Bears play catchup I think it's a sure win. I'm not always a fan of MM deferring the coin flip (although mostly I like it). Tonight I would prefer that the D is on the field first as a stop and then getting the O going would be ideal. Go, Pack, go!

I just hope the NFL figures out how do deal with the current problem and doesn't let it kill the game.

They are caught in a very tough situation. Both sides have a point. But I think that the proper course is to ask players not to do anything different in the stadium that divides the fan base. So why can't football bring them together and say we won't display our differences during football. We are just here to play football.

It won't kill the game if you don't connect the extra stuff TO the game.

They're entirely different things.

I share since'61 concerns. Two teams playing 2 games in 4 days is down right dangerous. This, more than any single issue is why I despise the NFL. Tired players make mistakes, and mistakes more often than not causes serious injuries. Football wise, this is a pick em game. I expect the game to be close, but the packers win. Either way. expect a slug fest. This is a division game, and neither team will give way. X factors, O and D line injuries. Glennon and Rodgers play. MM and Fox handle the game flow. This will be a Black and Blue old style division game.

What do I expect from tonight's game? I expect to do a lot of screaming, a lot of cursing, a lot of throwing things, hearing my wife yell downstairs to shut up, pacing, sitting, name calling (usually to MM and DC). Of course some eating and drinking will be involved. Oh, and the Packers squeak by with a win. :)

I don't know how this game will play out tonight but it is sad the situation fans have been put in having to pay hundreds of dollars only to be forced into choosing a side in a political argument. It's wrong. Not about football tonight. The one escape we all have had where we actually can unite around something has been taken away. The

Packers offensive line is a mess but in Lambeau you always expect a win. The road team on Thursday usually has a big disadvantage but the Bears offensive game plan is so simple they can install it in a day anyway. A win with ten days to recover for the next game will be a big help so they need to get it done.
