Packers Fans Are Taken For Granted

While both Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers try to curry favor with Packers fans, it's important to remember that neither one of them really cares about the folks they pay constant lip service to.

So the only way to communicate now is with profanity?

Clean up your act and use civility to make a point, if you are able. If I used your profanity in a post on CHTV, you would likely ban me.

Preaching to the choir Nags. Neither the league nor the team ownership/management could not possibly care less about the fans. They have created a dog eat dog environment of every man for himself and that includes the players as well. The league is all about money and they don't care if it comes from fans, TV, sports gambling, memorabilia, concessions, etc.

The players like Rodgers, Wilson and many others are figuring it out and they have realized they are bringing in the money and they are the attractions. It's become a league of stars similar to the NBA. It's entertainment and the best players realize they are the stars of the show. In the entertainment industry the stars choose when and where they want to perform. They choose the movie scripts to accept, they choose when to go on a concert tour, they choose to accept roles in TV shows. In the NBA we have seen players like Lebron James and others choose where they want to play. Are we beginning to see this in the NFL? Tom Brady for example.

Legalized gambling has increased the focus on individual players rather than on teams. This drives fans to players rather than team loyalty. Will fans prefer to watch super teams made up their favorite players rather than having favorite teams in the future? Whatever happens with Aaron Rodgers will become minor in comparison with what will follow. The teams are not loyal to their players, the players are not loyal to the teams and no one is loyal to the fans who are beginning to lose loyalty to the teams and are gravitating towards players. The league may be moving into a very volatile era which is of their own creation.

FANTASY FOOTBALL.

It's been around a long time but has yearly destroyed the team concept for the individual player. I have never participated in it as I could never cheer for a player playing against my team. Look at the number of podcasts etc that are Fantasy Football focused only. Most fans can't name the players of a team unless it's their Fantasy team.

A truly sickening development. Spot on Taryn. A symptom of our changing culture.

IMO not for the better.

...and by the way, STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!

Good post Taryn and very accurate. I’ve never gambled in any format but like you I could never bet on someone who plays against my team.

It’s only going to get worse. Thanks, Since ‘61
