The Packers are reportedly set to add another arm to the quarterback room.
According to TSN's Dave Naylor, the Packers will offer former University of Wilfred Laurier quarterback Taylor Elgersma a contract after the Canadian attended Packers' rookie mini-camp last weekend.

The CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected Elgersma 18th overall, in the second round of the 2025 CFL Draft last week. Elgersma won this year's Hec Crighton Trophy as the top football player in U Sports as he helped the Golden Hawks advance to the Vanier Cup where they fell to Laval.
Asked about the young quarterback last week during rookie mini-camp, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said “We did a workout with our tryout guys and he’s got a very live arm. You could see that on tape. He played at the Senior Bowl, (Jason) Vrable got to see him there. I watched the stuff from the Senior Bowl and talked with Vrable about that. We had him in on a 30 visit, so we got an opportunity to sit down with him, another guy that loves football. Watching him throw — he’s got a live arm — so there’s a lot to like about him.”
Elgersma posted 4,252 passing yards with 35 touchdowns and 11 interceptions across 13 games this past season. He also contributed seven rushing touchdowns. The London, Ontario native was the first quarterback from a Canadian university to participate in the Senior Bowl.

Does anyone know how many players the Packer have rostered at this time? Be good to know when reading articles like this.

90 is the maximum during the off-season, and they seldom have more than two or three empty spots. Sometimes I take a look at the roster on packers.com just for fun.

91 is max if they sign him.

Right, we have that international kicker who doesn't count so we get an extra spot.
We have 91 but that counts #9 as being on the roster; pretty sure he doesn't count while he's on PUP, right? So we have 1 spot free right now ...

Thanks. I knew how many they can have. I just didn't know what the count is at this time. When they do articles about adding someone, it would be nice to know where they are and how close they are to having to cut someone to bring in another.

I just counted the website which shows 91, but that's counting #9. While he's on PUP, which their website doesn't indicate, he doesn't count. Right? So it looks like they have 1 spot free right now ...

I saw a video of this guy. He's got a compact throwing motion. He throws it far and makes it look effortless. He looks more like a traditional QB than a runner. I didn't even know they played college football in Canada.

A major team like the Green Bay Packers considering signing a quarterback from a Canadian university is a milestone not only for Taylor Elgersma but for the entire football world. Canadian university education.
