Packers exercise Kenny Clark's fifth year option
The standout defensive lineman will be under contract for at least two more years.

Easiest decision Brian Gutekunst will ever have to make:
The Packers have exercised the 2020 fifth year option on DL Kenny Clark, per source. He’s emerged as a force for Green Bay.

I hope this is leverage to get a long term deal done with Mr. Clark.
Making him play year 5 under the financial terms of that 5th year usually breeds bad feelings between player and management.

I would nope there is no bad blood for playing under a contract he agreed to. He will get his pay day. I see no indication of him being disruptive, because of this

I think this will be Mike Daniels last season as a Green Bay Packer, and they'll be able to move that Money around, to include an extension for Kenny. Mike Daniels is playing for his next UFA contract this season, his to be final season in GB... JMO..

He'll get Bulagas money sometime next offseason.

He could become irrevocably broken in the next two years as well, so I think we should hold off on the long term deal for a while. Let's play 2019 first.
I think he's an excellent player. A very good draft pick for us.

Good move to lock him in. He has become a foundational player for our defense. Hopefully he remains healthy and has several more great seasons ahead for us.
However, I would not offer an extension until 2020.
Thanks, Since ‘61

Every year both the cap and salaries go up. I don’t think Clark’s is going to go down. I say (for what it’s worth) that we pay him now. He is just a youngster and is only going to get better. We got a deal on Bak and I think that if we sign Clark soon, we will get a deal on him.

I say extend him now and you might get the “family” discount on him. Similar to how the Patriots did for Gronk.

Folks, i recall high fives all around in the draft room when Kenny was signed yet quite a few of us fans sorta said, Kenny who at the time. I'm quite curious which player in this draft brought along high fives, and, which other draft pick brought a "we got him!" reaction from the draft team. i'd say the first one seemed to be Savage and the second......maybe Jenkins?!

Profootball Rumors is projecting that Clark's 5th-year option will be for $7.69M.

I’m glad they did this. He’s going to be playing well while negotiating a deal..it really does work out for both sides. Players get paid what they are worth and teams get the player they like. And let me just say Clark and Daniels jobs got a bit easier with the Smiths coming off the edges, they have other DL to give them breathers also.
