Packers elevate Patrick Taylor for Bears game
The running back played in nine regular season games for Green Bay last season.
By PackerAaron

Earlier this afternoon, the Packers announced that they are elevating running back Patrick Taylor to the active roster for Sunday night's game against the Bears.
Taylor played in nine regular season games with the Packers in the 2021 season, finishing with 23 rushes for 89 yards and a touchdown. He also played one snap from scrimmage and one special teams snap in the playoff loss to the 49ers.
Taylor originally signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
Teams are allowed to elevate two players off of the practice squad to the active gameday roster, bringing players up on Saturday. They revert to the practice squad following the game.
A player can be elevated three times during a season, after which he must be named to the 53-man roster if the team wants to bring them up again.

What are they admitting to? Is the Amari Rodger's experiment over?

That they want to run the ball against the Bears? And that it behooves a team that wants to run to have a 3rd RB available. Not that I am a fan of Amari.

They didn't say they wanted to run the ball before? Why didn't it "behoove" them before? I am not a fan of Amari.

Rodgers has never been a RB. He ran some gadget plays. There’s a difference.

If you want to run 2-RB's onto the field at a time and since jones is a weapon in the pass or run he needs to be on the field for the majority of the snaps. You need 4-RB's on the 53 to run what ML has been wanting to...one more like Dillon=Patrick and 1-more like jones. Since ML is a SLOW learner we are up to 3-RB's. If/When ML finally gets it we should be up to 4-RB's one more of each type more or less. I'll give it 3-4 games or an injury. As our rookie WR's get it together better later this year I would expect a reduction to 3 and a OL reduction and a WR one as well to show the top performers and a lesser reliance of 2-RB on the field at the same time.

Could be to bolster the pass protection.

What Amari experiment? He never gets to play, with Cobb in the line up. It's hard to "experiment" if he is never on the field with the offense.

There's probably a very good reason for that.

Or maybe because the name “Patrick” is too cool to ignore.

I'll go with that!

I think that this is partially about having better depth at RB, but, since we didn’t elevate an ILB and don’t have Barnes, this may well be primarily about STs. Taylor had been one of the guys filling roles typically filled by ILB types.
