Packers Draft Podcast: Lacy, Bell, Taylor Are Best Fits at Running Back

Brian Carriveau joined Chuck and Wickett on 1250 AM WSSP in Milwaukee to talk NFL Draft topics and the running backs that best fit the Packers.

On Tuesday I joined Chuck and Wickett on 1250 AM WSSP in Milwaukee to talk Packers football and the NFL Draft. Among the topics we discussed were the running backs that fit the Packers' needs. I'm personally of the opinion that Eddie Lacy of Alabama, Le'Veon Bell of Michigan State and Stepfan Taylor of Stanford are all power backs that would best complement the running style of DuJuan Harris. There's plenty more we cover as well.

Based on what exactly? Honestly I would say that Ball, Lattimore and Michael are the best fits for the Packers.

Ball is experienced running behind a zone blocker scheme, and Lattimore and Michael are the most talented runners! I wouldn't be upset w/ Lacy since he's the most proven, but I would take Lattimore and Ball way before I took Bell and Taylor. Lattimore and Michael are talented enough runners to run in any blocking scheme, not so much the case w/ Taylor and Bell.

I think I made it very clear what I base it upon. You can disagree all you want, but I don't feel the need to have to repeat myself.

it's like 5 minutes. If you have time to post hear, you have time to listen to this short snippet. I will say I lost a ton of interest in Lacy after his pro day today

Actually I can't since i almost always comment while working! Not that its any of your damn business.

Either way I disagree that thosr RB are best for the Packers. Pretty much no matter the reasons. Probably has to do w alledgedly being more powerful.

No doubt about Lacy. Heard he didn't make it thru and quit early. I had him top 2nd now would take him late 2nd at 55? when we pick.

I'm tired of hearing the Lattimore hype. The Packers aren't going to draft a guy that TWO severe knee injuries, one who very likely won't even play in 2013. Michael is a complete idiot--check his background. Ball. I'll give you that one, but not in the first two rounds.

Zac Stacey is anther possibility on day 3. Speed (lack thereof) is the main problem with the three Brian suggests. Lattimore runs in the 4.6's too. But any of them would be a nice compliment to Harris.

Not sure the Packers will be selecting a RB based on how that RB fits with Harris.

Well...you all know how I feel about Bell. I'm slowing becoming a bigger fan of Michael as well. Does TT take a chance on his Attitude and injury background? The talent is for sure there though.

Put it this way. In a few days TT will make #12 a $24M/yr man. So when he drafts a RB two weeks later is he going to draft an ubertalented guy who is not a willing pass blocker and who doesn't get along well with his coaching staff or is he going to go in a different direction? -

Just looking at that Michael kid, I get the feeling something just ain't right upstairs. His eyes look empty.

Levon Bell has been praised by scouts for his hands and athleticism. He showed good work ethic by shedding weight for pre draft process. He seems a better fit for McCarthy's desire for an every down back. Plus he would complement Harris. Also, he prolly would have dominated behind Bama line too. Bell > Lacy.
