Packers designate Christian Watson to return from PUP

The team has 21 days to activate the wide receiver to the active roster.

Welcome news coming out of the bye week:

As we discussed last week, Watson practicing doesn't necessarily mean he'll be playing on Sunday against the Bengals. What it does mean is that the Packers have opened up his 21 day practice window wherein they must decide to either activate him to the 53 man roster or shut him down for the remainder of the season.

The team currently only has 51 players on their roster, so a corresponding move will not have to be required if the team activates Watson.

The Packers and Watson recently agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension. Last season, Watson caught 29 passes for a career-high 620 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging 21.4 yards per reception.

ACL injuries - sometimes you're never quite the same, sometimes it ends your career (Bahktiari), and sometimes you come back as good as ever. Watson's quick recovery is a good sign. Watson and Golden is a pretty fair speed duo. Imagine having to worry about two receivers on the field who run a 4.3?

Does anyone know under what circumstances a team would designate a player to return and start the 21 day clock, when the team is not planning on activating them? GPG

I’m fired up to see Watson. Some said he was a Lofton clone and I said Javon Walker.
He’s a difference maker if he can stay healthy.
