Packers Daily Links: Jennings Discusses Jokes with Rodgers

Former Packer and current Viking Greg Jennings has gained notoriety recently for not calling Aaron Rodgers by name during several interviews. While some have speculated there's some sort of frosty relationship between the two, Jennings told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that it's all in good fun. In a first-person column published over the weekend, Jennings wrote, "I have no ill feelings for anyone over there. We're just back and forth. He jokes. I joke." Jennings has already declined to call Rodgers by his name in at least three separate interviews. Let's also hope Jennings knows when overkill sets in and a joke stops being funny.

A feature published in Monday's edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel profiles kicker Giorgio Tavecchio, in which the competitor to incumbent Mason Crosby made frequent references about his Christian spirituality. "I was out there but I kind of wasn't," Tavecchio is quoted as saying by reporter Tyler Dunne. "It's difficult to explain. My body was there, but my mind, I got to where with my specific breathing patterns and my prayers that I recite in my head — to use a metaphor my body was driving the car but my mind was in the trunk. I was able to turn off and just let my body be." Tavecchio would seem to be a long shot to make the Packers roster in 2013, but it's not out of the question. A lot of it might depend upon how Crosby performs.

Other features published in the Journal Sentinel over the weekend include pieces on safety M.D. Jennings and outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene and his job mentoring the young players at the position.

The NFL's annual Rookie Symposium is underway and the Associated Press takes a look at the role of one former Packer involved in the event as a guest speaker. "Among the most frequent questions is how much different life will be in the NFL compared to college," writes reporter Barry Wilner. "Such speakers as 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, former linebacker LaVar Arrington and 1991 Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard — all big college stars — will reply with stories about the up-and-down nature of professional sports." Howard is a recognizable face to most NFL rookies as one of ESPN's college football analysts on College Gameday. The Packers rookies start attending the Rookie Symposium on Wednesday this week.

I can't tell you how much I hate that red headed step child of a team from Minnesota.

It'd be one thing if they EVER had ANYTHING of consequence to brag about. But... they don't.

And yet, they gobble up former Packers like they're a bunch of hillbillies at a bbq.

Ugh. hate them. hate them. hate them.

They can take all the Packer retreads them want - they still have absolutely nothing to show for it.

I just dislike that I now have to dislike Bishop! Once a player, former Packer or not, I hate them. Sucks that the vikes make me hate former Packers so often!
