Former Green Bay Packers coach and current Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame on Saturday evening in Green Bay and introduced by former general manager Ron Wolf. "Holmgren led the Packers to the playoffs in six of his seven seasons, compiling an overall record of 75-37;" writes Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "he was also 9-5 in the playoffs. Green Bay won the NFC Central three times and NFC championship twice and also brought the Lombardi Trophy home following the 1996 season after a 29-year drought." Congratulations to Mike Holmgren on a well-deserved honor. The annual Hall of Fame induction banquet marks the beginning of another football season in Green Bay with the shareholders meeting taking place on Tuesday and training camp practice underway starting on Thursday.

In other Brett Favre news, it's been reported that the former Packers quarterback will serve as an assistant football coach at Oak Grove High School this year in his native Mississippi. "The Biloxi (Miss.) Sun-Herald reported that Favre is expected to be the offensive coordinator," according to the Associated Press. "Oak Grove head coach Nevil Barr told the AP he has talked about a possible role for Favre on the coaching staff, though a job title hasn't been defined. Favre has helped at Oak Grove in an unofficial capacity in previous years." Favre lives near Oak Grove in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished in 35th place at the American Century Championship golf tournament this past weekend in Stateline, Nev. "Rodgers played Sunday with another fiercely competitive athlete, Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, and former major league pitcher Greg Maddux," according to the Associated Press. "Rodgers finished the tournament with 26 points." Several other current and former players with ties to the Packers also played including A.J. Hawk, Sterling Sharpe, Ryan Longwell and Jim McMahon. Sharpe finished the highest among them in 11th place.

The Packers are bracing for a record-crowd of attendees on Tuesday for the annual shareholders meeting. "A record 25,000-plus team owners told the organization they want to attend the annual shareholders’ meeting Tuesday at Lambeau Field," reports Richard Ryman of the Press-Gazette. "If they all show up, it will shatter the record attendance of 18,707 set in 1998." Shareholders have not been promised any extras this season such as locker-room tours as they have been in the past.
