Wide receiver Greg Jennings appeared in an episode of Royal Pains on the USA Network last evening. According to Elite Sports and Public Relations, "Jennings plans to continue to hone his acting skills and make additional acting appearances. Instead of taking the reality television route, to become an actor, Jennings is selecting scripts that allow him to learn from and work with accomplished actors to hone his skills. Jennings states working with 'Royal Pains', has allowed him, 'to explore new opportunities and possibilities,' for additional television appearances."

Brandon Underwood made his initial appearance in a Green Bay court yesterday following allegations of domestic abuse back in June. "Underwood, also 25, signed a $1,000 signature bond and said he needed time to find an attorney," reports Charles Davis of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "His next appearance is July 15. If convicted, Underwood faces a fine up to $1,000 and up to 90 days in jail. Because the charge is not a felony, he does not have to appear in court in person; he can have an attorney appear on his behalf." In my unprofessional opinion, jail time probably isn't likely, although his future with the Packers would seem to be in limbo.

From the rumor department comes a column by Mike Jones of the Washington Post who covers the Redskins. "A person familiar with the situation said that there is mutual interest between Washington and end Cullen Jenkins, who recorded eight sacks last season for Green Bay and is now a free agent," writes Jones. It's nothing we haven't heard before. We've also heard the Bears would be interested too.

Kicker Ryan Longwell commented once again about the possibility of returning to the Packers via free agency. "That would be a huge curveball in the Longwell household," Longwell told Ann Carroll of Fox Sports Wisconsin. "You just never know. I just think you have to keep an open mind and be ready to go." Longwell made similar comments to Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com a couple weeks ago.

In an article very similar to the one published in GoVolsXtra.com earlier this week, a feature on rookie Randall Cobb appears in BlountToday.com about the wide receiver returning to his hometown and doing a public autograph session. Cobb commented on meeting Packers legend Jim Taylor at the NFL Draft. “He told me to cherish the moment and do everything I’d been doing to get to this point,” Cobb told Stefan Cooper. “It’s something I’ll never forget.”

An article about the importance of assistant coaches in a post-lockout NFL appears at Packer Report. "While the Packers' main coaches (Mike McCarthy and coordinators Dom Capers, Joe Philbin and Shawn Slocum) did not have professional paying careers," writes Len Pasquarelli, "receivers coach Edgar Bennett, running backs coach Jerry Fontenot, offensive line coach James Campen, outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene, inside linebackers coach Winston Moss, safeties coach Darren Perry and assistant special teams coach Chad Morton all played in the NFL. So, too, did quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, but just for one season. Moss, Greene and Campen were in the league during the 1987 stoppage."

Dom Capers' defense is the focus of an article appearing at Packer Report (subscription required). "In a give-and-take decision, Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers rarely played his base 3-4 package," writes Bill Huber. "Instead, he took advantage of his uncommon depth at one position group to play an unprecedented defensive style."

A column on the topic of the possibility of guns at Lambeau Field appears at the National Review Online. Nancy French writes, "Wisconsin, you are not a trailblazer: Most other states allow citizens to carry a gun, and chaos has not ensued."

Former Packer Cal Withrow recently passed away. "Withrow played in every game for the Packers from 1971 to 1973, wearing No. 58," according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He was 65.

A post on Brandon Underwood appears at Total Packers with a very misleading title: "Underwood's Wife Changes Story." No where can I find where she changes her story. She told the media she didn't want her husband to be arrested yesterday, which is the same thing she told police the night of the incident.
