Packers claim kicker Brayden Narveson off waivers
The rookie was 6 of 7 on field goals in preseason, including a 59-yarder.
By PackerAaron

As somewhat expected, the Packers did not stand pat at the kicker position after making Greg Joseph the lone kicker on their initial 53 man roster yesterday.
Green Bay claimed rookie Brayden Narveson off waivers from Tennessee on Wednesday.
Narveson had a strong preseason, hitting 6 of 7 field goals, including a 59-yarder, while being perfect on extra points.
No word yet on what the corresponding move will be, but the Packers will have to release someone to make room for the undrafted rookie.

Well, may as well gamble at this point. Joseph is on a par with others released and unclaimed. This guy might be unproven, but he’s got a strong leg. He might prove a find, and if not we can trawl through more sub par types on our PS and hope.

What caught my eye was NO MISSED XPAs! Now, I'm curious who gets moved off the roster to accommodate Narveson.
EDIT: Packers just announced releasing Greg Joseph. Now, his salary isn't guaranteed.

The college extra point is a 20-yard kick. Virtually unmissable. Making every one of them just means the snaps and holds were all decent.

Mason Crosby actually missed a bunch of extra points at Colorado.

Nice pickup- news reports said he was challenging Nick Folk for a job in Tennessee. Titans ultimately went for the safe pick in Folk.

He had a fine preseason, but let's not get too excited until we see him in some extended action.
Kicking accuracy in college:
Virtually perfect on XPs, but their distance is shorter.
FGs: Under 30 yards: 18-20.
30-39 yards: 23-27.
40-49 yards: 26-32
50-59 yards: 4-12.
Kickoffs: 2 touchbacks in 9 kickoffs. Another player (Collin Smith) handled kickoff duties for the Wolfpack last season, resulting in touchbacks about 60% of the time. So Narveson's overall leg strength is probably not as good as Smith's and is yet to be determined as a Packer.

This is the obvious solution. This, and a fire-breathing special teams coach. And Demons. That's all we need.

Yeah, man. I expected more from Rich Bisaccia than we have seen since his hiring. WAY more. Talk about false advertising... I can't really say with any confidence that he has really turned anything around on STs, unfortunately.

6 out of 7 is 83%. Anders Carlson was 82% last year. But at least the one that Neverson missed was from 58 yards. He didn't miss any of the short ones.

I think that 37 yd FG miss sealed Carlson's fate

Both the young QB and the young kicker the Packers picked up from the Titans must be ectatic right now, going from a #30 th ranked Tenn to the #7 ranked Packers.even if they were cut by the titans they would not have had it this good with any team that picked them up.now all they have to do is earn their stay on the team.Narveson can become a local hero if he kicks only 85% after what the Packers have had lately,
