Can't say that there were any big surprises here.

I thought keeping Alonzo "hands of stone" Harris over Neal was a surprise otherwise I would have gotten this entire lineup correct.

But, because Alonso Harris, they do not get your approval... Damn, now they will not be able to run for SB.... Can you please allow them?

Yes I give them permission to win even if Ted Thompson and I don't always agree on every move.

Agreed. I would much rather see TT go after a waiver-wire Tight End with high ceiling. And that is second to going after a punter.

We can't afford to take on the liability that Masthay has become. Well, unless punting is the last resort, and MM just goes for all 4th downs which are under 2 yards to go from the 50 yard hashmark or less. I'd love to see Masthay sitting on the bench more on 4th downs.

Sigh.

Keeping Harris tells me that Mike and co. still haven't learned the joys of pass-to-run.

I suppose I'll hold out hope for next year.

I don't understand why everyone is so down on Alonzo Harris. He has some wiggle for a big guy. He is a lot like Lacy, although not as strong obviously. With a season in an NFL workout regiment, I bet he'll be a capable replacement for Starks. Remember how everyone was down on keeping Tolzien a couple years ago? Now look at the guy. TT and MM know what they are doing.

So who gets cut when Datone comes back next week? My money is on Banjo or Goodson, depending on their special teams performance against da bares.

I personally hope Pinkard, Abby, Vaughters, Neal/Crockett/Storm Johnson(Personal Pick), and 2 CBs, 2 LBs, Nix 3, and Ringo become our PS.
Btw, I just really like Nix, I dunno why.

I am very disappointed in Rajion getting cut. He offers more contrast in running style than any of the others, and would be best alternate for Lacy. I don't know what he did during TC and Preseason to deserve the 53, but honestly, I hadn't really paid much attention. I just thought Rajion had decent hands, and played faster than any of the other running back (Lacy included). Not saying he was better than Lacy or Starks, but just had a quicker style as change of pace. So, I was convinced, and still am, that he would have a high average yards/rush if he came as alternate to Lacy (+5 yards/carry). Why stone hands Harris?????

I also think losing Joe Thomas will be a big regret (if he doesn't make/stay on the Practice Squad). I think he has some 'heat-sinking missle' to his game, and he's going to be a future impact player.

It is not nice to claim that any player has "stone" hands. We do not know what is his catching abilities, team knows because he might catch "100" passes and drop those 2 in game... Also, he dropped those 2 because he tried start the run before he secured the balls. What is young player in NFL often mistake... Also he might have better ball security ability than Raijon Neal or John Crockett...
Regarding Joe Thomas: We all assume that 31 NFL teams are just waiting to see who Packers will cut and then they are jumping to sign that players... The best argument I can tell is to go and see how many players are signed from Packers cut off during years... Than come back and cheer for your favorite player(s)...

yep, good point croatpackfan that there is lots the opinionated fan (me) doesn't see, and I'm just soundin off from my very limited knowledge and few plays I saw at preseason, but that is why I like this site, because I can act like I know stuff, and say 'told ya so' in a year. I still like Rajion though, from what I saw.

Otherwise, I agree with the list. While I was pretty sure they would keep Abbredaris b/c of the uncertainty/shakeup on WR, and only 3 TEs (kind of amazing?), I wouldn't second guess MM/TT. Abbey has had a tough intro to the NFL so far.

I don't follow other teams much. Can you suggest an ILB, a RT and a Punter?

Weatherford for a Punter and James-Michael Johnson from Kansas City at ILB. He started 9 games last year for the Chiefs and might be worth a look.

I know he didn't show anything in training camp, but I still want to see Dantzler on the PS. He has intriguing potential to develop.

Don't want a punter on PS. Either keep Masthay or find someone else as the punter.

not having an OT on the PS is not wise when your backups are Barclay and Walker.

Also, you have to remember 29 teams get a crack at claiming a player before the Packers do. The odds of them picking up a player from another team are not good at all.

This is an important point for fans to remember. It's also why TT considers it a "competitive advantage" to hold out on releasing his cuts until he absolutely has to. Fans get mad (I'm not sure why), but why not let other teams get their cuts out there to start the wheels in motion and make your own an afterthought?

Watch Alonzo Harris in the game against New England. That kind of power and burst is something you look to keep.

I did like Rajion Neal, but I'm not disappointed the Packers kept Harris.

THAT'S A BINGO.

I also liked all three RBs to some extent, but Harris was my clear favorite for his burst/size combo

Watching the tape, seeing Hundley ' s stats it's clear that he's Rodgers' successor. Same playing style and footwork and rapid accuracy. PACKERS MUST DEVELOP HIM RAPIDLY and make him the number two
Give him a lot of 4th quarter playing time where the Packers have built up substantial leads when it's important Rodgers not become injured. Packers can have a forty year run of all-pro quarterbacking

The problem is going to be his contract will run out before Rodgers play even begins to regress. Rodgers is 31, and won't turn 32 until December. Unless some unforeseeable event happens to Rodgers, (Knocking on Wood) Hundley's will be a FA in 4 years. At least if he keeps this up the Packers can get a decent draft choice out of it, just like Ron Wolfe used to do it.

I hope that either Neal or Crockett make it to the PS. I believe that Harris made the team due to his strong performance against the Saints. Not only did he exhibit strong running skills but he played with a cast on and never fumbled the ball. As we know that is huge for MM. While I like both Neal and Crockett Harris was the best of the 3. Also hoping that Abby makes it to the PS. I'm looking forward to Pennel playing more snaps on the DL. I think that he is our best shot for another DL to step up, also Gaston. Boyd can be chucked once D.Jones or Guion return from suspension. Besides CM3 I don't have a lot of confidence in the LB group, but TT and MM have kept the best of the bunch and as the season progresses and the Packers figure out the rotation this group should become more consistent. If Hayward sticks as the outside CB opposite Shields it will be interesting to see who emerges as the slot CB. I would be fine if Hayward returns to the slot and Gunther gets a shot at the outside, but time will tell. MM and TT have selected the best 53, minus Jordy unfortunately. Let's hope they stay healthy, the defense improves and STs find their way. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

Well, no one will be able to mount evidence against this until well late in the season, so well done Since61, time to welcome the 53 as the best. Glad you boys represent the finest club in the NFL. Congratulations!!!

Bold statement:

Abby is signed from the PS after a handful of weeks and Myles' White is cut.

That statement isn't that bold. Abby has plenty more natural talent than White, he just hasn't been able to stay healthy for any length of time to show that ability. If he can stay healthy, I'd expect him to get called up at some point.

White earned the roster spot but he is on thin ice. Abbrederis has a good chance to get that roster spot midseason. Its a tenuous job for now unless he makes some plays in his limited playing time.

They better get some LBs on the PS for when Perry and Neal both are injured by the 3rd game. If history is any indication of future performance.
