Oh, Those Sneaky Patriots

Wisconsin tackle Gabe Carimi interviewed with the New England Patriots while at the NFL Scouting Combine. Or did he?

INDIANAPOLIS – While meeting with the media while at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday, a brief exchange with Wisconsin tackle Gabe Carimi went like this:

Question: "How many teams have you met with so far? Do you remember the teams you had a chance to speak with?"

Answer: "I met with most of them. All of them basically."

Question: "Were the Ravens one of the team?"

Answer: "The Ravens were one of the teams."

Question: "The Patriots?"

Answer: "I can't comment on the Patriots."

Translation: Yes, I spoke with the Patriots, and they specifically asked me not to tell anyone.

And I thought Ted Thompson held his cards tight to his chest. Belichick makes Thompson look like a regular chatty Kathy.

He probably just should have answered with "who?" Admitting that the Patriots exist as a team is probably revealing too much.

I would expect every team meets with every top prospect they possibly can at the combine. It's not really hard to figure that out.
