NFL Picks: Week Seven

Aaron’s picks for Week Seven of the 2011 NFL Season.

Last Week: 8-6

Season: 64-28

Denver at Miami

It's Tebow time and the timing couldn't be better for Denver. The Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the league. Going to Tebow late against the Chargers seemed to give John Fox's crew the spark it desperately needed. It will be interesting to see if any of that energy carries over to today's game. Regardless, Denver should leave happy.

San Diego at New York Jets

The Jets have no identity on offense, can't stop anyone on defense and are fighting amongst themselves. Other than that, Rex Ryan's third guaranteed trip to the Super Bowl Championship seems right on schedule. The Chargers have a better record than they did at this point last year but are not as good a team as the 2010 version. Philip Rivers in particular has been erratic. The running of Ryan Matthews has kept the offense on track and the defense is playing well enough to win. But this is one of those inexplicable games where Ryan gets his guys to play above their heads - New York gets the win in a bit of a surprise.

Houston at Tennessee

The Titans are tougher at home than they are on the road and that does not spell good news for the idling Texans. Once again without wide receiver Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub and Arian Foster will have to carry the load for the Texans while Matt Hasselbeck and the Titans try to get Chris Johnson on track in what has been a supremely frustrating year for the once dominate running back. In the end, Hasselbeck makes one more play for Tennessee than Schaub makes for Houston.

Atlanta at Detroit

The Lions have been found out. Their reliance on explosive plays on offense and inability to sustain drives on offense finally came back to bite them against the 49ers. Their vaunted defense line was beaten up in the running game by the Niners and you can bet the Falcons are going to try and emulate some version of the wham play the Niners ran with such success by having tight ends and receivers crashing down on the Lions' defensive tackles.

This will be a tough, grinding battle and should be a great game. Atlanta on a hunch.

Washington at Carolina

The John Beck era kicks off for the Redskins as they travel to Charlotte to face Cam Newton and the improving Panthers. Washington's defense will give the phenom all sorts of looks while the Redskins offense will rely on their running game to batter a beaten up and bruised Panthers defense.

Chicago at Tampa Bay

Who knows with this Bears team - since the opener I've called every single Bears game wrong. Every time I think they've put something together, they completely fall apart. That said - Chicago gets this win.

Seattle at Cleveland

Charlie Whitehurst starts. Cleveland wins.

Pittsburgh at Arizona

What a sad state of affairs in Arizona. Their star player, Larry Fitzgerald, is unhappy with the talent level around him. Just a hint Larry, but when you keep jacking up your contract every chance you get, it makes it tough on the front office to bring new people in. Of course, the one big acquisition, trading for Kevin Kolb and paying him as though he'd done something in the league, has completely backfired. Pittsburgh is not the team we're used to but they'll beat the Cardinals.

Kansas City at Oakland

Carson Palmer? Kyle Boller? Does it matter? The Chiefs are awful. Oakland will gash their defense with Darren McFadden and hit the Kansas City offense in the mouth of defense.

Green Bay at Minnesota

Green Bay wins 38-17. Here's how.

St. Louis at Dallas

A.J. Feeley gets the start. Dallas gets the win.

Indianapolis at New Orleans

The Saints are coming off a tough divisional loss to the Bucs. The Colts are playing for pride. New Orleans might put up 50.

Baltimore at Jacksonville

Home dog on a Monday night. Jacksonville in a shocker.

Byes: Bills, Bengals, Patriots, Giants, Eagles, 49ers
