McGinn Nails It Regarding Favre

It's great to have Bob McGinn back at it after his regular summer break for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which is this from his chat yesterday (sorry, sub required):

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I believe in work. The older you get, the harder you have to work. If Brett wanted to maximize his chances to help the Vikings, he needed to be there every day starting in March. I know, he had some kind of arm surgery. Fine. But sign anyway (the Vikings would have taken a chance on him months ago), get to Eden Prairie and spend five days a week working with Childress and Bevell and the new teammates and the training staff. He has faded five seasons in a row partly because he doesn't take the offseason seriously and isn't fully prepared physically or mentally. Football is a brutal game. There are no shortcuts, especially at 39. Maybe it isn't fun to leave Hattiesburg in mid-March and live in the Twin Cities for three months. But if Brett were dead serious about going out in a blaze of glory and helping the Vikings, that's precisely what he would have done. Instead, he messes around with high school kids and conditions willy-nilly. For reasons stemming mostly from lack of preparation, I would expect his season in Minnesota to end badly if he goes through with it. And, really, he then would only have himself to blame.

Absolutely bloody perfect.

Perfect, Mr. McGinn. Nice catch, Aaron. Brett's not merely a football player any more. At some point he became a pop star, too. And I think that's his problem. It's interesting to me that he found time to fly to Chicago to shoot some commercial poking fun at his own indecision while, at the same time, he's "agonizing" over a possible 11th hour return. Poor guy...

I saw his car parked in a handicapped spot one day. I've seen him jaywalking and crossing when the light said "Don't Walk". Also, a friend of a friend of his wife told me that he wears dirty underwear.

The Packers lost to Gus Frerotte last year and they didn't beat the mighty Tarvaris Jackson by much. If the Packers do not improve, it's not going to matter who takes snaps for the other side.

Finally, someone sticks to the facts. But, with Peterson, Harvin, berrian and a decent TE, he may not really need to be in that good of shape. Though this is the NFL and I don't doubt the possibility of massive failure.

Just glad he didn't attempt to psychoanalyze Favre's motives and intentions. It's a little useless (you know who you are PFT).

McGinn echos my feeling about last offseason when he sat out of Packer ota's. Not a difference maker in the playoffs, and making it just to watch him chuck INTs should be unacceptable to Packer fans. Then to cry about not having Moss to make up for lack of precision and preparation as the solution to his own shortcomings is cowardly.

Mr. Optimistic

Why don't you use his dirty underwear to wipe his DNA sample off your chin.

McGinn could not have been more accurate & truthful. BF's reluctance to participate in anything off-season demonstrates his enormous wealth of arrogance & ignorance.
