McCarthy On Pierre-Paul: "What's He Supposed To Say?"

Mike McCarthy responded to the Giant defensive end's statement saying the Giants would "one hundred percent" beat the Packers.

In what can only be described as an extremely somber press conference, in light of the news that Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin's son had gone missing late last night, Mike McCarthy responded to New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul's statement that the Giants would beat the Packers on Sunday.

Said Pierre-Paul, "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.’’

Asked about those comments today, McCarthy responded:

What are they supposed to say, that they are going to lose? We fully expect to win the game and will prepare throughout the week to win the game.

Personally, I think the whole "what are they supposed to say?" response is as tired as the guaranteeing of victory, but as a famous philosopher once said - it is what it is.

But what else is McCarthy going to say?

Aaron, if you were in MM's position, what might you say when asked that question?

We're going to bury him under the turf next to Jimmy Hoffa.

They're supposed to say something like WE'RE JUST GONNA GO OUT THERE AND GIVE IT OUR BEST SHOT. THEY'RE A GREAT TEAM, AND WE DON'T TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM THEM, BUT WE THINK WE CAN BEAT THEM. WE'RE CONFIDENT IN OUR ABILITIES. EXECUTE, TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN BUSINESS AND DON'T BEAT OURSELVES.

MM should have turned the question over to Rex Ryan.

I'm going to wait, and then make fun of lame questions sure to be asked our Packers on media day in Indianapolis during Super Bowl week ... soon.

It always seems a little juvenile and definitely regurgitated when the media asks those type of questions. I'm sure McCarthy would rather stand up there and answer more interesting questions about 20-30% of the time, and as Oppy said, leave the boasting to Rex and others that don't really understand how to be leaders.

Great. Extra motivation! I love it. May god bring patience to Joe Philbin & his family through this tragic time. We will all be playing with heavy hearts and now a little extra motivation. Let's win this for Michael Philbin. He can be our guardian angel through another SB! Go Pack Go. RIP Michael.
