McCarthy Getting Noticed - Finally

It's no secret that I am a Mike McCarthy fan. I think he's done a hell of a job in his short time with the Packers. He's held Brett accountable for his mistakes. (The first time since Holmgren was in town that a coach has done that...) He's pushed all the right buttons when it comes to the pulse of his team. His game plans have been better than I expected from a first time head-coach. And his play calling has been solid. Do I quibble with the occasional call? Of course. What fan doesn't? But overall, he's been spot-on. (As an aside, I'll just add - Any idiot who says "McCarthy is a horrible play-caller" needs to watch this weeks installment of 'Inside the NFL' on HBO. They have McCarthty miked-up from the Redskins game. Listen to him talking to Brett just before the big Donald Lee play. He does that EVERY PLAY. If you think McCarthy's an idiot - you're an idiot.)

Well, it seems people outside the world of the Packers and their followers are starting to notice the job McCarthy is doing. Adam Schein over at FOX Sports has a nice column praising McCarthy for his handling of team that is clearly flawed but clearly winning. That's called coaching, ladies and gentleman. And McCarthy is turning into a damn good one.
