It’s gotta be tough to do a podcast every single day!

As endorsements go….
Bwaaaaaahahahaha!

As a matter of fact, this was really really great. Was thinking they would go with that high production player.

My guess Van Ness starts Game 1. Bookends of RG and LVN should be insanely fun to watch.

All the skill players for Love! Yeah. Necessary. Funny thing about Musgrave is he’s an accomplished blocker with great contact balance in the open field - on top of being a speed mismatch receiver for LBs.

Kraft, a gem of a steal at Pick #78.

Then there’s Reed of the JC (Jet Concept). Love this dude. Hard working player. Toughness reigns with the entire group of he, Wicks & DuBose. Skills too. Wow.

TOUGH.

What is amazing to me looking at all three is their separation skills. It appears Gutekunst made sure that’s not an issue with his WRs.

Also agree with Aaron and Andy all these players mentioned can easily wind up starters this year.

Great TC battles ahead. Thank you, gentlemen!

Cannot remember a training camp I have looked forward to more! Think wife & I need to load the ebikes up this summer and head to Green Bay for a weekend. Wonder how many complete 360's around the stadium we can do before stadium police pull us over? 🤔 😀

Would be cool to meet up. I’m definitely hitting that first practice open to the public. Always a treat seeing the new players from the fence at Hinckle or Nitschke stands.

Let's try & schedule a meet up for first practice of training camp. I'd like that!

I always go to the Friday Night Scrimmage. Do you go to that?

I’ve never been. The night drive back is a little too long for me now. We’ll figure it out. All-in on that first practice.

A healthy Musgrave running free down the seam for big yardage is going to blow Stockholders mind making him realize how Aaron Rodgers limited the Packer offense by never throwing down the middle.

Musgrave & Kraft are truly going to own that.

Those people will always ignore the many positives that come from utilizing the mid-to-deep middle of the field, and will focus on the occasional picks that come with targeting the middle.

Yes, picks are a major contributor to losses in the NFL, but it's really hard for some people to understand there comes a point of diminishing returns when it comes to limiting picks.

The best way I've come up with explaining it, is this: Just about every Superbowl winning QB in the NFL- EVER- has had roughly double or triple (or more) INTs on their season than Aaron Rodgers typically throws in any given year of his career. Limiting picks is important, but there comes a point where being risk-adverse starts to affect offensive production more than it limits negative results.

Fascinating stat, Oppy, and you’re not wrong. Just the last three years, for comparison…

2022 - Mahomes: 12
Rodgers: 12 - outlier year
2021 - Stafford: 17
Rodgers: 4
2020 - Brady: 12
Rodgers: 5

Correlation is not causation, but at least in 2020 and 2021, Rodgers throwing a lower number of picks was not sufficient on its own to be the deciding factor in getting the team over the hump and into the Super Bowl.

Oppy,
Excellent analysis and very true. Surprised there isn't more comments regarding your post. Risk vs Reward!

With Musgrave & Tucker we have the talent to go down the middle. Size, speed combined with Excellent hands. Furthermore, Jordan Love played the 'Brett Favre' maverick style QB in college meaning I don't see him passing up on those throws down the middle. Once a maverick and risk taker you will always be a risk taker, however the one thing I hope from Love watching AR for three years is that he has become wiser and has become more selective with those riskier throws.

The biggest benefit in having a defense worry about the middle of the field is it takes pressure off the outside. This is especially troublesome for defenses that have to try and stop a speedy wr like Watson. Going man to man against someone like Watson unless you have a pro bowl caliber cb can be a no win situation.

This team is shaping up to be pretty deadly offensively if we stay healthy and Love turns out to be decent. Two big "ifs" of course in this league.

Either way its going to be very exciting to watch and I havent been this excited about a Packer football season in several years, and I was a Rodgers fan.

Reb,
You are exactly right!

Detroit bracketed Watson and shut him down. With the added TE talent and an impressive looking Slot WR we now have the firepower to attack the field at every level keeping defenses more vanilla. Jordan Love is going to play well! I have minimal reservations about that! It is a young offensive team and there will be some growing pains but damn I'm excited about watching them grow together. The really good thing about all this is our OL. They all are veterans and experienced, as well as a good OL. They will be great in the huddle and in the locker room with these young kids.

It looked like the Packers traded out of their 2nd 2nd-round pick at 45 when the Colts traded into 44 and picked Julius Brents. He is a tall corner who looks like a good safety prospect. I wonder...

There is a good chance you are right. Indy had to figure that GB would take him at 45 if they didn't jump up to take him. I personally was really high on Brents as a player to move back to safety. He started his time in college as a safety at Iowa before going to Kansas State and becoming a CB.

I might be one of the few Packers fans that didn't want JSN at 15 or later 13. I also don't think JSN is going to be as good as people think. He isn't explosive out of his breaks and his top end speed isn't there and that will cause issues in the NFL. On top of that Reed seems to be a JSN lite but much taken 30 picks later in the draft and with higher YAC upside.

When it comes to the Mayer and Kincaid, the value for TE isn't there in R1 either. Kincaid is a good receiving TE with a higher floor than Musgrave but Musgrave's ceiling is higher. Mayer IMO has already hit his ceiling and will be a journeyman TE2/3 in his career. He just doesn't have the athleticism to stand out in the NFL. Usually a player needs to have some athletic trait that stands out to be successful in the NFL, however, Mayer doesn't have that. He is average to above-average but nothing good to elite. At the combine he ran a 4.7/40 with a 1.61 10 yard split. Those are 81st and 89th percentile numbers, which is good, but he doesn't play to that speed. When you see him on tape, he lumbers down the field and doesn't show a 1.6/10 yard acceleration. I'd say he plays more like a 4.8 or 4.9 40 with 1.7 or 1.8 10 yard split. I saw flashes of Richard Rodgers III when watching Mayer. Basically he had R1/2 production but R4/5 athleticism and I would avoid completely.

I was never interested in JSN either. Would he have been an okay pick? Certainly! With the existing Packer receivers you have to look at the physical characteristics of them and find a WR whose physicality and skill set compliments them. I always knew it was going to be Kincaid, or Musgrave with an outside chance of Quentin Johnston. Guys like Addison, Flowers, or Hyatt I knew would never be a consideration in round 1. When the Packers didn't trade back knew the Packers were going a different direction. Honestly, I thought it was for Broderick Jones.
