Is Aaron Rodgers Set to Win His 3rd Straight MVP Award?

In the hallowed halls of the NFL MVP rankings, to pick up an award for that season is an honor all its own. However, to win more than one award in a row - consecutive seasons - is a rarity. For Aaron Rodgers, it is a reality at its best; the man has won two MVP awards for the last two years running, in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

However, could he be set to win his third MVP award in 2022, emerging as one of the favorites for the title - and make history in the process? So, let’s take a proper look at what’s happening and see for ourselves. Looking to have a wager on next year’s MVP? Check out these PA promo code offers we found on Gamble-USA, and make some bets!

Hallowed Halls Indeed

Aaron Rodgers was the NFL MVP for 2020 and 2021. He starts the 2022 NFL season in a fairly unique position - there are few players who can pick up multiple awards back-to-back and fewer who can take home three MVP awards in a row.

It’s a difficult task for any player, regardless of the sport, because it requires an exceptional level of consistency and play. You have to be nearly perfect the entire season and then manage that for multiple seasons running. It’s a tough task for even seasoned veterans because that level of quality is taxing to try and maintain.

Aaron Rodgers has already made the list of elite NFL players who won back-to-back awards - and if he can pull the win back again this year, he’ll be one of only two players that have managed to do it - the other was legendary Green Bay Packers Legend Brett Favre.

Favre won three consecutive NFL MVP awards in 1995, 1996, and 1997. If Rodgers can do it too, they’ll be the only two players that have ever accomplished the feat in the whole of the NFL.

Can Rodgers Do It?

It’s probably important to acknowledge that there is a high level of difficulty that goes into winning even one of these awards. Players must be exceptionally skilled to manage this - there can only be one MVP - and so anyone who is lucky enough to secure it is a hot commodity for their team.

For Rodgers to have done this for two seasons running speaks to his skill as a player. Clearly, the man has done incredibly well to be able to secure the accolades that he has - most players are lucky to pick up even one of these awards in their career - but that just presents the bigger question as to whether he can do it again for the third time.

An NFL season is a long time, and the physical, emotional, and mental demands placed on players are big. There is a real need for consistent skills and bringing your A-Game to each game, which is a big expectation. It will be interesting to see if it is, in fact, possible - walking away with two awards would be good enough, but three is practically unheard of.

Final Thoughts

So, it is clear that if Aaron Rodgers can take home the MVP award for the third year running, he’ll have reached a level of infamy most players can only dream of. To pick up a single award for MVP is a great accolade; to pick up two back-to-back is truly amazing, but to secure a third on top of that would be a feat only managed by one other person.

It would definitely put a major feather in Rodgers’ cap, and it’s nice to see that he is currently one of the favorites to take it home. Hopefully, we’ll see his skills shine through, and his performance over the years has been truly exemplary. It’s just a matter of time before we see whether or not he is capable of taking it home for the third year running - or whether he’s destined to settle for two.

Why should we care and why does it matter when this?

Tom Brady has played 22 seasons for the Patriots and Buccaneers. He has thrown for 84,520 yards and 624 touchdowns. He was selected to play in 14 Pro Bowls. He has won 1 Comeback Player of the Year award, 2 Offensive Player of the Year awards, 3 MVP awards, 5 Super Bowl MVP awards, and 7 championships.

Since Brady turned 40 and what he has achieved is enough to make you vomit and you wonder whether Rodgers gets a 3rd MVP.

Again, why should we care? Is that the mark/goal for this season? I hope not.

And who remembers the years and which team won the Super Bowl? Goes both ways and am pretty sure Rodgers himself cares about MVP and SB both.

Taryn. Mr. “Blind optimism” here agrees with you. Yet I am sure that he would like it. The rest of us prefer a SB MVP

And the correct answer is: Who gives a rat’s ass?

Notice how the answer is in the form of a question in true Jeopardy style?

IF Rodgers was to win a 3rd MVP in a row that would be great. It would probably mean Lazard, Watkins, Cobb, and Doubs ALL balled out and stayed healthy...

BUT... The MAIN GOAL of each and every season is to win a Championship, period end of story. Hopefully, this season ends with the Packers winning Championship #14 in Glendale Arizona. ANYTHING else is just gravy.

Every one of Rodgers 4 MVP seasons ended in playoff losses...aka ZERO Super Bowls.

Personally, I'd prefer Rodgers has a really nice season, the Packers win the SB while someone else wins MVP...much more than the Packers have a really nice (regular) season, Rodgers wins his 5th MVP while someone else wins the Super Bowl...just like his last 4 MVP seasons.

It will be difficult for Rodgers to win another MVP, yet I think the O can be better and he can still have a great year.

With this O line and the run game potential there should be less reliance on the pass. The D has potential to be one of the best in years and should have more 3 and outs & turnovers, giving the O more opportunities that promotes a ball control offense: Chain moving, clock chewing, scoring drives.

It is possible Lazard, Watkins, Doubs, Watson become a prolific group and #12 passes 60% of time. More likely we see the most balanced run/pass O in years.

Last two years GB passed less than 59% of the time. We’ve been a very balanced team since LaFleur came in a HC.

Interesting that the same day this article posts, JSOnline posts an article that says that 12 attributes his improved mental state and play to trips to South America to take psychadelics/hallucinogenics...

The active ingredient is a schedule 1 drug DMT. It’s been used in shamanic rituals for ever in certain cultures and he wasn’t in the US, but I’m pretty sure it’s not NFL approved. I hope this doesn’t have any blowback beyond his blast of essential self love.

That's what I wondered, too. He's admitted it openly, but presumably never tested positive for it (if they test for it at all). Tryptamines can act as uppers, so it could be viewed as a PED. Plenty of players out there are users of a variety of recreational things, but they don't get suspended just for saying so.

Merged with the ocean? He found life's meaning in a pill?!

7 MVPs the last two quarterbacks 2 championships. One more of each would be cool too but, I don't believe he'd trade a championship for an MVP. Lets get defensive and offensive players of the year 7 pro-bowlers and a championship. How's that?

It's more important for Rodgers this season to be patient while working with the new receivers and playing within the offense. It will go a long way towards him playing at a MVP level throughout the playoffs--which is where we really need it.

We did talk about this before. All he needs to do with this offence is be an efficient game manager. With no turn overs that becomes an MVP.

Still recovering from reading about 12's "thoughts" on his idiotic growth experience on a 3rd world beach, but I managed to have a thought on the possibility of a 3rd MVP award.

He's got an advantage over every other likely candidate in that everyone thinks he doesn't have any decent receivers: Lazard gets no respect, Watkins is always hurt, Cobb's old and slow, and the others are literally "who?"

So imagine the offense does well this season. QB's always get too much credit when things go well so 12 will be seen as a miracle worker and win it again. Could happen.

Kids, settle down, Ed has returned to help us learn how to wager. There needs to be a collection of words around that offer, and this week it's this tasty topic. In fact, Ed writes these articles with two kids at home (heard about CHTV from his best friend who encouraged him to try) and it helps Al keep the lights on around here. Think of it as a Reverse Uno Win-Win.

As long as we are hypothesizing about just about anything in this thread let's try to figure out what the Pack's record would have been in those MVP seasons if he had not played to MVP level. Maybe poor enough to not win the North. Maybe poor enough to not even get to the playoffs. If so then a lot of the threads about the Pack would be whether he can lead them to a division title and/or the playoffs not win a SB. So maybe his outstanding play moves our hopes beyond what they should be and yet we blame him for having these hopes.
Anyway, just hypothesizing here.
