High Times

Alex Tallitsch is spot on with his take on the latest 'revelation' regarding NFL prospects that have been 'red flagged' for marijuana use.

Could not agree more with Alex's take, via Brandon over at ACME Packing, on the latest 'revelation' that (gasp!) college kids smoke pot:

What I would like to see is a list of the first round draft picks that went out four times a week to local sports bars and got tanked off their ass. Then, I’d also like to see a list of those who then got in fights, threw up everywhere, and passed out while watching TV with a half eaten microwave burrito. I want a list of the guys who are going to hit the strip clubs and then come home and hit their wives because their frickin’ too plowed to think straight. That’s the kind of list I want. I want the list of the guys most likely to get drunk and mow over people, or even do crazy stunts on motorcycles at 2:30 in the morning.

I’ve known plenty of pot smokers in my time, and I’d rather have them on my team than the asshole sucking down 24 cans of Old Milwaukee on a Tuesday night.

Preach on brother.

Not all college kids smoke pot ;). *Raises hand*.

I agree though. When you get older and in a position of power, you forget that when you were young you did stuff like that, or worse. And you turned out alright despite your "wrecklesness".

Missing the point, Nick. Pot smokers are a peaceful bunch. Drunks are the ones you really need to worry about on the "character flaws" front.

I actually have a shirt that says Green Bowl Packers. So I guess you all know now where I stand on the subject of pot. Also, my wife is going to benefit greatly with her having to cope with her terminal disease because the state of New Jersey just legalized it for medical use.

I think it's admirable of those prospects that admitted marijuana use during the interview, kudos. It's the random prospect that shows up with weed in his system at the combine knowing he was about to be tested. Even then, it's not so much an issue of consumption, it's the second-level of stupidity associated with the timing.

As for me, I can't be a hypocrit about any of the college partying. I will be forced to smile honestly at my daughter in a little over a decade and just say, 'there's a time and a place for everything, it's called college......".

As I said over at Packers lounge, I smoke pot because my job doesn't drug test. But I think it shows lack of judgement to jepordize something you have been working towards for so long (and potential millions) just to smoke pot. But guys that walk in, sit down and say "Yeah I smoke", well that shows balls, class and maturity.

"Green Bowl Packers" bah haha! I love that.

The stigma surrounding marijuana is ridiculous. All the drug does is make everything better! Alcohol's the problem, marijuana's not. There's a lot of stupid, dangerous things I've done drunk, but high? Maybe occasional overeating, but nothing stupid or dangerous.

Though for the first time in my life it does look like the country's headed in the right direction with it's views on legalizing/decriminalizing it.

nothing wrong with smoking a little weed :)
look at michael phelps he won 8 gold medals and smoked a bong, its all about politics and who has more money. Alcohol is the ruin of all. look at all the deaths that it causes in the US day to day and pot to date hasnt killed anyone.

Very interesting article about long time NFL & Cowboy Center Mark Stepnoski that I remembered reading awhile back that I thought was pretty good. It definitely is pertinent to the topic at hand.

http://hightimes.com/news/ht_admin/231

I could go on & on about this subject, but I will refrain & just say this...

As far as I know, NOBODY has ever overdosed on marijuana, but the same can't be said about alcohol. As far as I know, you can't fall into a coma from excessive use of marijuana, but the same can't be said about alcohol. I know that there are great uses for medical marijuana in terminal patients, but I know the same can't be said about alcohol.

Marijuana > alcohol BY FAR!

Nothin wrong with smoking a little green. A couple of years ago Al Harris used to do a weekly show at the Ramada hotel in Fond du Lac. He showed up a few times high as shittttt.

The only time NFLers should be allowed to smoke pot is after the game to take the edge off all the coke.
