High School Football Stadium Named After Elgton Jenkins

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins will forever be associated with Clarksdale High School (Mississippi) and the school’s football program.

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins will forever be associated with Clarksdale High School (Mississippi) and the school’s football program. It was announced over the weekend that the school’s football stadium will be named, “Elgton Jenkins Football Stadium.” Jenkins graduated from Clarksdale High School in 2014, earning Second-Team 5A Mississippi Association of Coaches All-State honors as a senior before taking his talents to Mississippi State, where he was named a 2018 first-team All-American by The Athletic

Jenkins returned to his birthplace this past weekend to host his third annual youth football camp with his former Clarksdale and Mississippi State teammate, J.T. Gray. The school’s field house will be named after Gray, who plays for the New Orleans Saints and was a first-team All-Pro honoree in 2021. Both players had their jersey numbers retired by the school last year.

“It was a blessing being able to come back and put a smile on the kids’ faces and being around the people you grew up with and seeing everything you accomplished,” Jenkins said in an interview with Good Morning Football after last year’s camp, which drew roughly 300 campers.

Well deserved. My wife and I had a chance meeting with him in a parking lot during the GBPkrs summer tour a year ago.
Very large, strong and athletic human being, but also humble and happy.
He was climbing off a tour bus at the time, as we were checking out.
He seems to understand and appreciate where he came from and where he is today.
Perspective is a valuable and rare trait for most of us.
Give'm hell Elgton, even if, god forbid, you don a purple jersey someday, you'll be respected by these two cheeseheads.
GPG!
