Lang really seems to solidify things. Quinn Johnson seems to help out.
Three times the defense gave Cleveland an "automatic first down," including 15 yard penalties on top of that. I think all three automatic first downs were on third down too. Not getting off the field.
I ain't complaining, though.

Hawk played superbly today. Looks like that "benching" lit a fire under him. Good defensive performance which could've been spectacular without the bonehead penalties. At least the offense resolved their pre play issue for the most part.
bucky - Poppinga was coming in on short yardage. I hate that.

This is the first time that Paxkers fans can be completely satisfied with he teams performance this season. NO SACKS but he o line, Ryan Grant having a great game, A Rod and his receivers connecting perfectly as usual, and only three points allowed on defense. True the Pack was playing the Browns, but they didn't look this good playing he lions, whor are arguably a much worse team. I say bring on the vikes!!

I was really hoping that the Vikes were going to drop two games after our bye week, while we won out our two games before the re-match, making the packers-vikes game next week a game to virtually tie it all up with a Pack win (the Packers would still have been a half-game behind the Vikes because they haven't had a bye yet).
.
Unfortunately, the Ravens didn't hold up their end of the deal, and the best we can hope for this next week is to end up a game and a half behind the vikings (5-2 vs. 6-2)... The disheartening part is the remaining schedules for the two teams. The Pack's sched gets decidedly more stout as we look ahead; the Vike's becomes very soft.
.
I hate to say this, but playing catch up for the division will be a tall order. Perhaps if it can not be done, it will be sweeter to snag a wild card and then knock the Vikings out of the playoffs ourselves. Sorry for putting the donkey grotesquely before the cart.

Oh, btw: What's everyone's thoughts on what to do next week at LT from a personnel standpoint?
.
Did Lang's pass-pro look solid enough to warrant starting him in MN regardless of Clifton's status? Lang's RB ability vs. Clifton's would certainly make it a discussion worth having..
.
I'd hate to see the Packers put Clifton back in just because he's 'the guy' after he was absolutely destroyed by Allen last time out. However, if he's truly back to his old self and quick enough on his feet to handle Allen, the promising rook should sit.
.
Tough decisions for the Pack?

Some line stats as far as the running game today.
RT: 11 attempts, 65 yards, 5.9 average, long of 37
RG: 16 attempts, 69 yards, 4.3 average, long of 9
C: 3 attempts (all scrambles by Rodgers), 20 yards, 6.7 average, long of 19
LG: 7 attempts, 38 yards, 5.4 average, long of 15
LT: 4 attempts, 12 yards, 3.0 average, long of 5
Lang is not really a factor in the run game...rookie against J.Allen. Not unless Clifton is 100% out.

The packers made mistakes against Detroit, but they were almost perfect against the Browns. I think that playing all the horrible teams in the last few weeks has helped them to improve and get their rythm back. Today's game proves that, especially with the NO SACKS. I definitely think that Lang should see more playing time, if not become a starter. Back to my original point, if the Packers can beat the Vikings next weekend, then I'm sure that the schedule will have had somehing to do with it.

If Clifton is bothered at all by the ankle, then I think Lang should play. Allen's speed against a hobbling Clifton would be big trouble. You could also say Allen against a rookie is big trouble, but I think Lang would do OK now that he has had a chance to practice and play at LT.

Yeah yeah, gloat all you want. Beating the Browns is NOT a big accomplishment.
Vikes lost today, but played damn hard against a damn good team....a team that's a hell of a lot better than the Browns OR the Packers.
....................................
And I'm actually glad the Vikings lost today. It's better to lose a few during the season, than to blow it in the play offs. Winning & losing streaks ALWAYS come to an end.
.....................................
Look at what happened to the Patriots a few years back. 18 wins.....and blew it in the Super Bowl. I kept saying it all along that year, "They better lose one now and get it out of the way, or they're gonna blow it in the end" ....and they did.

IMO
With the exception of penalties the Packers looked great the last two weeks.
Many Vikings backers on this site. They point out that Cleveland and the Lions are meaningless teams and spit their venom. Any football fan knows that regardless of record no team should be taken for granted. If the two teams the Packers played are so bad then why did Minnesota give up 533 yards in offense and 33 points to the same two teams that the Packers gave up 288 total yards and 3 points? That said, the overall focus is on this week's game.
Rodgers has a rating of 110.8 and Brett Favre is playing great with a 102.2. Minnesota's defense is 17th in yds and 17th in points given up while Green Bay's defense is 3rd in yardage and 6th in points per game. Minnesota's offense is 3rd in points and 12th in yardage per game while Green Bay's is 9th and 8th.

Vike schedule after the Pack includes two against the Bears, Cardinals, Bengals & the Giants...... doesn't look so soft to me at this point...... Factor in the "BF Swoon" & the Vikes are due a few more losses.

At the halfway point:..... The Pack 6-2 tied with Vikes at 6-2......
