Gut Reactions Week 17

  • Thank God that's over
  • If I see another pass on 3rd and 10+ thrown for 6 yards I am going to cry
  • Why does Al Harris' brain just absolutely freeze on three to four plays a game?
  • Our offensive line is in shambles
  • Our defensive line is worse
  • Our defensive coordinator should be fired
  • God bless Donald Driver
  • Finley made a play!
  • Charles Woodson is the man
  • Nick Collins in the Pro Bowl is a farce
  • The Packers are lucky to have Rodgers. Is he a Hall of Famer? No. But he's better than most of the QBs who have followed Hall of Famers in the NFL over the past two decades.
  • How many days until the draft?

Finley actually made a couple plays. You can almost see the rationale for the excitement MM has for him. I still worry what goes on between his ears, but he looked good today. I'd love to be wrong about Finley
Harris is all about jamming at the line. If he can't jam the receiver he just doesn't cover as well as he used to. If GB is in zone then he's toast, and when he forgets where the safety is then he's extra crispy toast.
Rodgers finished 21/31 for 308. He would have completed 90%+ for 400 yards if anyone in green and gold could catch in the first half. As Aaron says, we are VERY fortunate to have him following #4. It usually does not work out that way
I thought Jolly played well today.
I can not wait until next year!!!!!

We all witnessed history today. The Packers made the Lions the worst team ever. Also a bright spot to looking forward to next season will definitely be J.Finley. He really has shown some promise over the past few games. It took all season to find it out but I think Aaron has found him a go to TE next season.

Another thing is making me smile, Philly 27 - Dallas 3. I maybe the media darling. Romo, isn't as good as advertised. I'm watching him toss an int. and the WR's yelling at each other and Romo. Romo looks like he's about to start weeping. This makes the Packer season a little more palitaible. I hope Jones fires Phillips and we get him for the Def. Co.

i definitely second the "thank god it's over" comment, but it is also incredibly sad that we have to wait so long. i think mccarthy needs to re-think the whole not practicing outside thing...considering no one could catch the ball right away...congrats to a-rod on some great playing this season...now, lets go out and get a d-coordinator, a couple additions to our lines and some bad-ass free agents!

Aaron had a great season! Clearly the o and d lines have to be a focus for next year. How much is the coaching and management to blame for the the 10 losses? That question must be answered as soon as possible.
Derrick Frost certainly wasn't the only poor performing player on our team. Who should stay and who should go now?

Rodgers started all 16 games. That should silence the critics about him being "weak". The future looks bright in greed bay.

dusty - great point. Where are all the people who were calling him 'injury prone' prior to this season?

As I mention on my blog. Rodgers injured his shoulder in week four and played through the pain.

Favre played terribly down the stretch and is now blaming his play on a ... shoulder injury. (Albeit one that nobody knew about.)

To Ron's point about the Cowboys...There is a certain satisfaction in seeing them totally self destruct when it matters most. There was a play late in the game when Pacman just got run over and I caught myself laughing out loud.

D-coordinator, how about Romeo Crennel?
Defensive End -- how about some cash for Julius Peppers? ANybody else like what DeShawn Wynn did? Also, they've got to keep Driver. I read somewhere (JSOnline, I believe) about the prospect of letting him go. Big mistake.

No thanks on Crennel. Peppers will never hit the open market. Loved Wynn this year. A thousand times more than last year...

I must admit, I was worried about Rodgers endurance. His limited history had red flags that caused the concern. He showed what he is made off this year. And it bodes well for the Packer future. Aaron Rodgers is one tough football player. He is surrounded by one of the best groups of WR's in the league. Give him an other Stud or two in the O Line and who knows just how good he will be. Yesterday, the rollout was used to good effect. Another good running back may have come forward.

With some tweaking (maybe more than tweaking)in the O Line and bringing the TE back into the game the GB offense will be put in good stead. The key to success is Aaron Rodgers, he will only get better.
