Gut Reactions: Week 13

 • What an UGLY game.
 • Charles Woodson is unreal.
 • Rodgers was masterful at using the playclock all game long.
 • Did Ray Lewis make a play?
 • What on Earth happened to Donald Driver?
 • Brad Jones and Clay Matthews look good. Matthews looks like a star in the making.
 • Ryan Grant and Ahman Green are a tough one-two punch.
 • Why does Greg Jennings have to start every game with a big drop?
 • I'm officially anti-Mason Crosby.
 • Tramon Williams deserved two of those P.I. calls.
 • AJ Hawk! Interception! Never thought they'd go together.
 • Jermichael Finley is a beast.
 • The Bears Still Suck.

I thought a big play in the game was Kapinos' punt from deep in Packer territory in the 4th quarter. Great kick.

This is a much better team with Finley on the field. He IS a beast

OK, I'm saying it - in THIS defense, not the 4-3, the team is better off without Kampman

Tramon didn't deserve that one in the middle of the end zone. He made a great play to knock the ball away.

I think alot of Crosby's struggles are due to the holders, but he won't come out and say that.
Game balls for Finley, Clay Mathews and Hawk.
Another patented "MM Lull." Has this offense played 60 minutes all year?

Oh yeah, a sack for my man Brad Jones. Since Kampman has been out, the defense has gone from 18 to 1, is that accurate?

God dammit GreenBay Packer Nation beat me up to that...

Anyway, Mason Crosby doesn't make me fuss and warm inside when he lines up to kick the ball, be it a field goal, kickoff or extra point. The decrescent order of ammount of fear I have.

I think that is the most important point. If the game is on the line, 4th and 10, a 40 yarder FG, in a dome, would you kick it, punt it or go for it? IF you didn't respond kick it, then Crosby should be cut. Right NOW.

I don't know if I can defend Crosby anymore...I have no faith in him anymore.
Second, big ups to Kapinos for that kick in the fourth quarter.
I am officially a CM3 groupie! And I loved when B Jones got his first sack (CheeseheadTV bump)
JMFinley is amazing!!
Not only is Grant and Green good, but don't forget about Jackson!

Play of the game was the Woodson TFL at the goal line. If that play doesn't happen, the Ravens probably punch the ball in for a TD and its a 3 point game again.

I liked how they used Green tonight. He seems to run better then Grant. I though Grant missed a few cuts tonight and left some yards on the field. Green ran hard and I thought got some extra yards because of it.

Driver's fumble was huge. They are up 17-0 and would have been in field goal range. The Raven's def was on their heals and they could have possible put that game away. Fumble turns into 7 the other way.

Dietrich-Smith is an idiot. He almost got a 15 yard penalty and he tried to actually run with the football. Idiot.

I really like how this defense is coming together. How good would they be with two excellent corners?

ST's is going to cost us another game. Kick coverage or missed field goals. On the plus side I thought Kapinos had a solid game.

It was ugly. But we were better and that's all that counts. Line play wasn't dismal and was relatively functional. The Green Bay Packers were better. That's all that matters.

And, indeed, da Bears still suck. I can't wait until Sunday!

Great point DD. Woodson's tackle was the play of the game by far especially because of the pick on the next play (or the play after). Look at the freakin' replay; Woodson leaps sideways and makes an INSANE one hand tackle. Amazing.
.
Another note...it's no coincidence Woodson didn't have his typical INT/FF game. He was playing Mason in man coverage on 90% of snaps. Great game plan by Capers as usual, but it gave Woody less opportunities to be around the ball.

thank god we got this one...although, i still wish we could learn to put another team away! we almost beat ourselves again! at times the offense seems a little too nonchalant. jennings and driver smiling after they drop a pass? play with a sense of urgency and put the other team away!!!!! let's see it happen in chicago! god knows we can't rely on crosby.

The refs were ridiculous tonight. 5 out of 9 of those PI calls simply should not have been called. ESPN made a good point (yes I know, for once...) in the post game about how you can just fling it up there knowing you'll get a PI call. You have to let them play and give the D a chance.
.
2 valid ones were the one holding Jennings and the first one (I believe) on Williams where he had the Raven's WR's arm held after he got beat. Some of the rest were debatable and the rest were simply ridiculous.

This is a still-flawed but improving team- problems still exist but the list is getting smaller. I like the schedule for the rest of the year, as I think it is a relatively tough schedule that will make the Pack more playoff-ready if they persevere. Chicago at Soldier field will be a tough game, regardless of the bears' play this year. The Steelers are still tough and may be hungry, and the Cardinals proved that they are a team to be reckoned with. The Seahawks should be easier of course, but there are no "gimmies".

The key to the whole Ravens game tonight was how much the Bears sucked. About 200 yards of tonight's penalties were due to the Bears still sucking. I will get to be watching their general suckiness from the 20th row in the south endzone at SF. They have always sucked and they always will.

The D-line dictated the game tonight. They stepped up big with Raji and that interior pushing around the Ravens inside linemen. Game ball to the D-line tonight, Matthews and Jones included!
And Woodson is a stud, fyi

The pundits have been swinging off Cushing's nuts all season. CM3 has 7 sacks a few forced fumbles, a TD (he hasn't been a starter from day 1 either)... let's start a movement to get this kid the D.R.O.Y.!!!!!!!!!!!!! CM3,CM3,CM3...

I'm a high school official in two different sport and one of the things that they keep drilling into you is, "Don't make the game about you - make it about the athletes!" I'm thinking the officials in last nights game might need to revisit that lesson. This isn't ballet here - it's a contact sport - half those PI calls were bogus.

We will get the Bear's best at home next week. This will be their Superbowl and they would just love to play spoiler. Problem for Bear's fans is that their team is just not that good. Green/Grant run for 200 in the snow and Packers roll in 5 straight.

Packers deserve some RESPECT after Monday...

Rodgers deserves to be in the MVP conversation when you consider his stats compared to Brees; Manning and Favre.

If Charles Woodson doesn't win Defensive MVP then the award holds no meaning to me anymore!

Two things: We have a really good QB. That 2-minute drill at the end of the first half was fantastic. The run, the throw to Finley...dude made some big-time throws tonight, and didn't even come close to getting rattled.
-------
And it absolutely pains me to say this, but I don't really fault McSuperSize for getting all conservative in the 2nd half. When Driver fumbled, we were throwing deep down the middle, trying to march down the field. Next drive, same thing...trying to move the ball. Let's just hope the fact that it didn't work doesn't make him forget about trying it some more. Oh yeah...another stupid challenge, too.

I did go back and look at that hold. Flynn bobbled at first but got the ball down, laces out. Crosby is officially a head-case. Purely mental, nothing wrong with leg strength.

Great game by the Packers. I don't care if it was ugly, this team has enough firepower and confidence to compete with anybody. Outstanding young players.

Great game and a solid win. The defense deserves to be in that #1 conversation, last week I thought it a little premature. The only bad thing was MM play calling at times during the game, so predictable. Sometimes I think we win despite him.

Good to win, but ugly is the correct lead line above, e.g. penalties, drop balls, almost 2nd half comeback (again), bad challenge (again), missed FG, interceptions, fumbles and did I mention penalties, penalties, penalties... yada, yada.

Pro's - Defense has had the most impressive play and improvement IMO all year (particularly considering injuries). Offense: Rodgers appears to remain upright more often - line getting better, Green is dynamic - but Rodgers/Receivers still not able to put it away once and for all even after gaining good leads.

I agree.

Extremely athletic play down field by AJ Hawk. He has been playing better recently so I hope he keeps it up.

I never thought I would see that kind of coverage and adjustment to the ball from him. That was a tough play to make and he had great coverage on a very good TE. All good signs.

I think this aggressive defense suits our personnel better. AJ does not look lost anymore.

GREEN displayed his NFL, mean dog experience and STUFFED the blitzing rusher - hell, the O-Line STEPPED UP and gave A-rod the time he needed! WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT OUR PACKER RECEIVERS? BEST IN THE LEAGUE!! This was the vaunted RAVENS defense... AND THE PACK DOMINATED!! Damn, aren't you proud to be a Packer Backer??!!
