Great Practice Video From Bedard

Great Practice Video From Bedard

Be sure to check out the video Bedard took last week during the one day reporters and the public were allowed access to practice. Pay particular attention to the differences between the offensive linemen that Bedard compares and contrasts. Jumping from Josh Sitton to Breno Giacomini is like going from Keanu Reeves kicking but in the Matrix to my daughter playing patty-cake. The speed and power that Sitton puts into each punch compared to Giacomini is amazing.

Also of note just after that is the comparison shots of Chad Clifton and first round pick Bryan Bulaga.  Notice how Clifton keeps his elbows compact and stationary and gets his punch out lightning quick? Then watch how Bulaga drops his elbows after each punch and takes an eternity getting them back up again.

Just fantastic stuff. Be sure to catch it over the course of the next day before NFL rules dictate the Journal Sentinel remove the video.

Who's this guy named Nick McDonald?

These are just drills and we will find out who can play once the pads come in game time situations where they have to think, react, and perform all at once when it counts. Putting everything together to be a consistant lineman

I don't think even in game situations we can evaluate. I remember coming out of preseason games thinking that Barbre would do OK for us...

I think we'll only know for real weel 1, against Philly...

I am not sure how bad Barbre really is. If Colledge has a mental challenge in playing a few snaps at LT and going back to guard then Barbre may have gotten off to a shaky start that was only made worse with MM's play calling and A-rod holding the ball to long.

IMO MM should have kept the play book simple in preseason so he could evaluate talent a little more better.

You could see things easily getting on top of Giacomini. He seems so slow, any quick defender making a move and he'd be beat. I think he'll struggle to make the final cuts with Lang and Tausch at RT.

It sounds like a technique thing with Bulaga. I'm glad Clifton said that he would mentor the kid. I'm glad we re-signed him. Everyone was crying out that Clifton was too old and injury prone for the contract we gave him, but a good mentor is well worth the price.

"It sounds like a technique thing with Bulaga."

I thought that was the big selling point on these T-Rex armed guys (joke) coming out of Iowa... They've been coached by Ferentz, they're pro-ready and 'technically' sound... PLUG-EM-IN! Oh well, thankfully we have one of the best O-line Coac....

It's early though, he'll be fine.

New to the site - has anyone around here ever been big on Giacomini? I figured he was just raw, a project, but has he flashed much? Thanks for sharing the vid.

Welcome Morris - I just wonder if Giacomini collects his paycheck with a ski-mask and a gun...

Way to bring ethnic stereotypes into it...

PackersRS's picture

Why stereotypes? Cause he has italian nickname? Or cause his parents are brazilian? Didn't get it...

Aaron Nagler (runs the site), has the word 'Breno' tattooed on his lower back.

True story.

Great clips of o-line drills.

Anyone else notice that Newhouse and that McDonald kid had the best footwork outside of Clifton? And, wow, does Clifton make them all look silly in comparison, btw. Great stuff.

I yearn to see Bulaga in there but I am more than pleased that Clifton looks so good. I'll happily watch him tutor Bulaga for a year...or more, if necessary. If somehow McDonald becomes a positive force, what in hell are we going to do with our excess OL? We don't dare put any on the practice squad or we'd lose 'em for sure. What a difference a year (and a great draft) makes.

Does anybody else, when listening to Greg, think he's a curled lip away from sounding just like Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) from Caddyshack?

"Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!"
