He and Scott Wells were the only 2 decent draft choices by "GM" Mike Sherman.

Corey Williams and Aaron Kampman were pretty damn good too. That said far too many busts and very few serviceable or better players.

His 2000 draft was his best (Bubba Franks, Chad Clifton, Mark Tauscher, and KGB). 2001 was a total whiff, including his first round selection of Jamal "Please-Don't-Hurt-Me" Reynolds. 2002 brought Javon Walker (one really good season) and Aaron Kampman. 2003 was Nick's year, and he was the only keeper. 2004 found Scott Wells in the 7th, but he blew it again in the first round with Ahmad Carroll. The truth is that Sherman SUCKED BIG TIME as a GM, and wasted the final eight years of Favre's career. No wonder #4 was so pissed off at the organization - it is amazing we kept winning the division with the losers that Sherman kept picking!

'00 was a Wolf lead draft (his last calling the shots). That was not Shermans. Shermans 1st year running the show, w/ Wolf as an "aid" was '01 when Sherman took Jamal Reynolds and Ferguson (instead of Chris Chambers). Kinda got off to a bad start and never got better. Wolf had already announced his retirement effective after the '01 draft and that the GM duties were Shermans going into the "01 draft, but that Wolf acted as an advisor in '01. Wolf officially retired May or June '01.
Wolf handed Sherman the keys to a BMW and Sherman made it into a Yugo. By the time Sherman was relieved of GM duties the cupboards were barren of NFL talent. Thompson has done a remarkable job w/ the Packers since.
Wolf and Thompson have been god sends to the Packers. Sherman was a complete and utter failure as a GM, and was at best a decent HC.
