Former Packers Coach Mike Sherman Finds New Coaching Job

The Cape Cod Times is reporting on Mike Sherman's new coaching job.

Mike Sherman, the former head coach of the Green Bay Packers, Texas A&M and most recently the offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins, has been named the new head football coach at Nauset Regional in North Eastham.

Sherman became the Packers head coach in 2000 and its General Manager in 2001. Ted Thompson replaced Sherman as GM in 2005, while Sherman coached his last year with the Packers, as the team went 4 - 12.

After leaving the Packers, Sherman went on to coach at Texas A&M, and had assistant jobs with both the Houston Texans and the Miami Dolphins.

Oh his new career move, Sherman said:

“When I came to the Cape a year ago I felt I was done in coaching,” said Sherman. “I explored other outside opportunities, but I kept coming back to the fact I missed coaching. I missed the players and the preparation that goes into a season. I missed the ebb and flow, handling the highs and the lows.

“I have always admired high school coaches who give their time to their players. They have a chance to impact young lives. That is exciting and I’m looking forward to having an effect on these kids’ lives.”

A decent coach but a horrible GM. The worst move Ron Wolf ever made as GM was replacing himself with Sherman. Although that may have been Bob Harlan's decision.

And an outstanding man!
Cerebral and stoic in the days of grandiose hyperbole.

I loved the way sherman had the running game (u72 with barry etc) and protected farve but that offense always disappointed me by the end of every year. I wont mention the defense. But yeah, what a stand out human being. Maybe he will get his championship now.
