I’m glad he’s back but why not franchise this year and next year which is a significant increase for him and maybe work out a deal in the second year when maybe the cap situation improves? Thanks

We need to wait and see the final numbers. I'm guessing his cap hit for this seasons is likely to be less than the $8mil he would have gotten if they tagged him.

I wanted him tagged. I'm surprised it got done. I'm Glad he's coming back. There just might be hope for Gute yet.

I would have preferred for AJ to be released and for Smith to be cut or swapped, because I believe the money intended for them would have been more useful to sign some FAs and fill gaps (CB ILB help Clark).
That said, as always, I will be the main fan of both AJ and P. Smith

However, let us remember that if we do not repair the obvious holes it is possible to have a replay season of the one just passed ...

i think there would have been close to fan revolt if we let Jones walk. i felt, more than Rodger, he was the real soul of that team, loved by one and all. remember the story from his first year of anonymously helping some elderly lady with her bags in the outagamie country airport? i mean the guy is just plain good to the core, on every dimension. the sad thing is the equally charming and very able Williams will be elsewhere and there is someone whom you also just want the best for, deserving every dollar he will make.

So NOW they go all in to win a SB. What would have been had they done this last year?

I would have thought they go with Williams and Dillon to save the money for other positions.
Now they can focus on OL and CB.
