This past April, ESPN launched ESPN: Chicago to much fan fare in the Windy City. According to today's New York Times, ESPN: Chicago is now the most viewed sports site in the city, beating out the Sports page for the Chicago Tribune. In addition, ESPN has announced that it will be expanding into more local markets over the next year, with Los Angeles, Dallas and New York all lined up to be covered by the World Wide Leader.

Now, far be it from me to judge the merits of this development. And I think I've made my feelings on ESPN pretty clear by now. (For new readers, a search of 'ESPN' in the upper right search box should do the trick) I'll just say that ESPN saturating the major media markets, the same markets that already receive all the national attention, just thrills me to pieces. (Sarcasm alert) Plus, I look forward to seeing how the boys and girls in the New York media get along with their ESPN counterparts. They should sell tickets...
