Eric Stokes reportedly on track to return during camp

The third year cornerback suffered multiple injuries in last year's game in Detroit.

While Eric Stokes may begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, Bill Huber offered a very promising note on the veteran's timeline to return:

Stokes’ recovery is right on track, the source said, and the Packers are taking a cautious approach with a talented player. If all goes well, he could make his training camp debut in a couple weeks.

This is an excellent development for a player who suffered knee and foot injuries in the team's game in Detroit last year. The Lisfranc foot injury required the installation of a plate and two screws and not only ended Stokes' season, but required him to use a wheelchair during his initial recovery period.

It's no secret that Stokes was having a rough second season prior to his injuries. Getting him back in the mix during camp would be a great development for the Packers, allowing him to be worked back into the mix slowly while working on his technique and generally attempting to regain the promising form he showed during his rookie season.

With Jaie Alexander and Rasul Douglas on the perimeter and Keisean Nixon in the slot, working in Stokes via the dime package makes a lot of sense early on this year.

That would be very good and surprising news.

Honestly I don't think he will fully recover to his old self and that wasn't all that great so now we will get a slower less confident player who second guesses running hard. I think bringing in a veteran wouldn't hurt.Is there any decent ones out there?

It's comforting just to have him back.

This is the first good news I've heard about Stokes since the injury. It's also the first time I've heard anything very specific about the injury. "Plate," "screws," and "wheelchair" are all bad words, but hopefully those things are in the past and he can come back soon.

If true, excellent news! His injuries were severe. Being able to play by mid-season would be hopeful.

""It's no secret that Stokes was having a rough second season prior to his injuries"

Our three worst defensive performances came immediately after Stokes left the lineup. 28 to the Cowboys, 27 to the Titans, and 40 to the Eagles.

With Stokes in the lineup, we held Minnesota under their home average, we held Chicago to 10 and Tampa Bay to 12...on their own field. Nobody got over 27 on us.

LH, will you PLEASE stop with the facts.

You are making it hard to get into lockstep with the "Joe Barry Sucks" and "The Packers Defense Sucks" narrative...

Hey greengold, do you ride? I have a beautiful Softail and love riding around the gorgeous Silver City area. My lovely wife has a Sportster I'm sure wouldn't mind letting you take out for a ride. We could head out somewhere private and discuss all this Princess and "lady" stuff. Just a friendly chat mano a mano. I'll even treat you to some amazing New Mexico green chili.

It’s a quote. Applicable. Reap what you sow. If all you’re gonna do here is snipe others…Quit your crying. YOU had to take that one last shot, didn’t you?

Take your softail and shove it, Mr. Rubber Knife Gang.

Nah, just a big old ugly burly retired Vietnam Vet that likes to cruise the country side with friends and family. Nothing against those folks but not my style.

Just not a fan of anyone calling out someone's manhood, then not willing to back it up. I've invited a couple of them out to visit, but I guess they'd rather stay in their comfort zone. Understandable I guess.

Looking forward to a fun season!

Do you ever come to this site to talk about the Packers, or do you just come to attack other posters?

You mean like calling other posters "chickenshits" and regaling us with your ugly girl jokes?

Yes, I actually do talk about the Packers quite often. You might want to pay more attention.

What is it with Ford Field? We lost 3 starters in that first Detroit game, 2 for the season and Doubs never really was himself after he got hurt there.
