Day One Thoughts

Well, I know I am constantly labeled a Ted Thompson apologist (though I'm pretty sure you don't need to apologize for your team getting to the NFC Championship in Year Three of your tenure...) but I absolutely, one hundred percent love what Thompson did yesterday.

First of all, Memo To Packer Fans At the Packer Draft Party:

If you are lucky enough to be at Lambeau the day of the draft, please don't 'boo' Thompson when he comes to address you after the first Packer pick. It only makes you look like the cheese-eating, beer-drinking, Hobbit-like buffoons the rest of the country already thinks you are.

Secondly, Brian Brohm at pick number 56 is an absolute steal. Brilliant pick, though I'll admit, my initial thought was that Thompson had just become the guy in your fantasy league who grabs two Top 10 quarterbacks in the first three rounds and then proceeds to tell everyone what good trade-bait one of them will make...

As for Patrick Lee, the Packers desperately needed a corner, so it makes sense, though most of the scouts I trust have  him pegged as having stiff hips and being better suited to zone coverage. Who knows, maybe Bob Sanders is switching schemes? Hey, a guy can dream...

Finally, I'll be offline for the next few hours, as I'll be at Radio City for the balance of the day to follow the draft in person. I'll have reactions to today's proceedings later tonight.
