Crosby Makes Perfect 14 of 14 Field Goals on Tuesday, Ramirez Makes Only 6 of 16

On Monday the Packers released Mason Crosby's main camp competitor, Georgio Tavecchio. Crosby did not take the competition change lightly though, out performing Rookie Zach Rameriz at practice on Tuesday.

During Tuesday's practice, Crosby hit a 64 yarder, while Rameriz missed 10 kicks, including a 35 yarder and kicking short on a 58 yarder.

Mike McCarthy said on Monday that the Packers still considered Tavecchio as an option at kicker, despite releasing him. If Tavecchio clears waivers Tuesday, the Packers still have the option of bringing him back in, should Crosby stuggle in the pre-season finale Thursday night.

So after all the kicker drama we have had to deal with this off season, Mason is still our guy.

If I wasn't about to cry, I might think it's funny how quickly so many folks not only jumped on but were ready to subsidize the Zach Ramirez bandwagon.

too much drama for a kicking game. Our defensive secondary and run game are what we should be concerned about.

Crosby kicking well does not "suck."

Now it's a question of him keeping it up.

I think that's partly why it sucks. He's done this before, only to shit himself soon thereafter.

That and nobody has done enough to unseat him...despite his continued inconsistency.

He'll keep it up until we need a clutch kick to win a game.

Sounds like good ol' Mason Crosby is getting the message. Now resign Tavecchio to the practice squad to hang on to him, so Crosby knows all season he is kicking for his job.

Practice is one thing and game time is another, it seems that is what really counts.

They brought in this Ramirez bum as a final boost for Crosby's confidence. Or something.

I knew if Crosby even kicked midlin and this new kid was only OK, Mac will keep Crosby.

Detroit just released Kickalicious, get him on the phone asap Ted. Since you only want to sign kickers with zero game experience.

I know you are kidding, but I would be infinitely more comfortable with Kickalicious at this point.

Have the Packers ever had a kicker on their practice squad?

They finally got the punter right after several years. It may take another year before they find the right guy. We're gonna go with Crosby, but if he goes in the tank again this year, they'll pull the plug on him and trot out Tavvechio to finish the season. That's one of MM's "scenario"s.

I know this sounds crazy but would it be worth it to keep Ramirez on the 53 active roster along with Crosby? It seems just the presence of Ramirez has kicked Crosby into the "zone" that only the greats talk about like Jordan, Rodgers etc.

If keeping Ramirez helps Crosby kick like this all the time I say he's worth a roster spot. Just my opinion.

Detroit just released a good kicker. Crosby could just as easily start missing again.

Isn't it a little late to be messing around trying to find a decent kicker?

Actually Ramirez kicked very well his first day here. What the hell happened?. Unless something else bizarre happens, Crosby's got it sewn-up, shank-you very much.

I think Ramirez was in awe of Slocum and couldn't concentrate.

I have been a tough critic of Crosby's but there has been a change. It is time for positive energy to be sent to 2. He's the kicker, he can do it, he will do it..

Really- I sense a change. He has broken through whatever it was that he was struggling with....

He has conquered his demon.

Cut Crosby and go with no kicker. Just go for it every 4th down. I have more confidence in Rodgers. I think Masthay could kick off.

Statistically, teams should always do this. No kicker or punter, and then a longsnapper also isn't needed. You free up 3 roster spots and you're playing the statistics. If you absolutely need to punt, anyone can kick a pooch.
