Presumably the more Packer restricted free agents who sign their tenders will lower both the number of Packer RFA's that are supposedly joining together to sit out voluntary activities and the number of Packer players who are dissatisfied with the state of their contracts.

Good to see that both the players and management appear to be on the same page for the most part when it comes to solidifying the team's core and getting some of the financial and contractual business out of the way so they can get down to preparing for a successful season.

What about giving Blackmon a shot at safety. The guy seems like a mirror image of Nick Collins, speed, athleticism, and mad ball skills. If we can sign or create a return man (men), let Blackmon concentrate at 1 position. I thought the switch to more zone would help, but a bookend to Collins might be where he could really shine.

That's an interesting thought Tony. The problem would arrive the first time they had to drop him down into the box. He would get killed in the run game.

This guys a weapon if he can just stay healthy.

Sounds like he's really jealous....

Also, just by following him on the mighty Twitter, it was easy to get the feeling that he REALLY had no intentions of ever going anywhere else.

This is massive truth. He's already been in Green Bay for a week, arrived sooner than guys like CM3 and Barnett who have to be there as they have contracts.
But it's still good news to have it official. Now the dude just needs to stay healthy.

Non related - Saw the Packers signed a lefty punter for 3 years. He's an Australian who played Aussie Rules Football. See youtube vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgJgq5ESYr8
Worth a shot I guess.

Yeah, I've been avoiding mentioning the punter pick up for no other reason than sheer apathy. Just can't get worked up until he's at least kicking in training camp. Otherwise, I just...don't...care.... (sigh)

I was about to mention this. Is it normal to give a guy a 3-year deal if it's just for the sake of "competition?" Seems like they think they've found something....

I'm actually about as excited as possible about picking up the aussie punter. I was reading an article about the other Australian punters last year and apparently the way they kick the ball in Australian rules football(nose down?) makes the ball bounce backwards when it lands. The 3 aussie punters in the NFL last year had over 100 punts combined ''inside the 20'' compared to just 10 toucnbacks. Kapinos had 15 ''inside the 20'' and 10 touchbacks lasr year. That could make a huge difference IMO.

Dude's got a leg. Can kick it 5 yards with hangtime pretty consistently. Problem is, he needs three steps to get the ball off.

50 yards. LOL.

This makes me very happy. Love Blackmon.

His first job - Stay Healthy! We'll never know how good or bad he is until he gets on the field and stays there. Until then he's a small Justin Harrel.

Ron LC thats a little harsh regarding blackmon, he is now where near close to being a bust like harrell. He unfortunately got injuried and was put on IR, but he was one hell of a KR/PR remember those run backs he had for TD's? I think yes if he can stay healthy he will be a force to be reckoned with in the return game!

I haven't seen Blackmon's signing anywhere else on the web. Is it real?
I agree with Ron LC...Blackmon needs to stay healthy and contribute. Harrel, too.

LOL! I just saw it minutes after my post. :D

I know it's asking a lot of the football gods, but wouldn't it be simple justice for Harrell to finally contribute on our DL? He's had tons of treatments, lots of meds(legal) and many good wishes.
Blackmon will bring real excitement back to the return game. He could use a small blessing from those same gods. By the same justice, those gods should investigate why the Williams' sisters go unscathed.
