1995 Again

Well.

It feels like 1995 all over again. I'm headed to Wisconsin this afternoon (sure - the one week we lose, I get to go to the Motherland and grieve) but I'll be back on Sunday to post thoughts and reactions to last nights game. But I will say one thing - this Packers team has a ton of heart. The NFL really stuck it to the Packers making them play 3 games in 11 days, and that showed last night. But they never stopped fighting, and my word - Aaron Rogers. It's shocking to say, but he ran the offense better than Brett Favre, who was just terrible.

Remember, it's one game. The Packers are still 10-2, and in line for a bye (the most important thing) and a home playoff game. If they get healthy, rested and ready - I like their chances if they have to go back to Dallas for the NFC Championship.

The Packers played great last night. I was at a bar surrounded by Cowboys fans that know very little about there team or football in general. They were rubbing it in my face that TO was making big plays. However, he didn't understand that our team isn't healthy. We had two pro bowl caliber players injured and the Cowboys game plan did an excellent job of showing us that we needed them in our line-up. If Woodson and KGB would have played, our pass defense would have been greatly improved. We would be getting more pressure on Romo because KGB can speed rush right around Adams at Left Tackle. Adams is 350 lbs and slowww. Woodson is our playmaker on defense. Thats even a bigger lose for us. It seems like in every big game we play the refs are terrible. Harris had the strip from TO in the beginning of the game. One official said it was Packers ball. Another didn't blow his whistle until the play was out of bounds. Forward progress is stopped when the official blows his whistle. Watch the replay and you can see it all. Hopefully this isn't going to be the second time the head of officiating writes a letter to the Packers and tells them sorry for blowing the call. When Jennings scored the touchdown the officials missed a blatant facemask. There were probably another 4 penalties that were no calls or bad calls. After looking at the box score today, I saw that we had 9 penalties for 142 yards and the Cowboys had ten for 65 yards. I think it is just sad how the officials are terrible in the NFL. I like our chances in the big D for the NFC Championship game when we are healthy and seeking revenge. I think Romo will choke and we will blow the Cowboys out on there home field and go to the superbowl.

I think this is an up and coming team with tons of young players with great potential. But I think we see a lack of depth at key positions...and great teams don't have the weakness. This reminds me of '93 and '94. We are on the cusp of greatness. But we need one or two more peices. Depth in the defensive secondary. Depth on the Oline. Those are big concerns.

I do think we're set at Qb even if Favre leaves. Rodgers looked a lot like Romo yesterday. I think we'll see a lot of Romo vs Rodgers in the future.

I agree...if we can get healthy..we'll give them a much better game the second time around.
