Any regular reader of this site has no doubt already read Greg Bedard's excellent overview of the 3-4 defense and the Packers' first foray into it.

.. Mike McCarthy to make up his mind on Bob Sanders, the more likely it becomes that he will keep the embattled defensive coordinator.

That would be Ted Thompson's response to Pete Dougherty's question regarding any potential changes on the coaching staff.

Word out of Houston today is that Gary Kubiak has fired his defensive coordinator Richard Smith and two other defensive assistants (one being ex...

Michael Lombardi, who actually knows people in the NFL and with the Packers, had a very interesting quote in his morning "Diner News" column today:

Much to discuss and dissect over the coming months. When will Bob Sanders be fired? WILL he be fired? (It's not a sure thing) What about Mike Stock...

I've seen a lot of this sort of thing (Thompson's Plan May Be Suspect) in the last couple of weeks (Blame Game Begins).

I've received quite a few "Is this what it was like in the '80s?" queries over the course of the last few weeks. Let me put this to bed right now -...

Everywhere you turn in the Packer Blogosphere and even in the accredited media you find pieces about the Packers playoff chances, complete with examinations of the Packers schedule and how it compares with the Vikings and Bears, who they all play when, what might happen to the Williams brothers, etc, etc. Sorry, but I just don't see it. I understand newspapers have a vested interest in keeping hope alive, but my fellow bloggers really need to take off the Green and Gold glasses. This team is not going to the playoffs, and if, by some miracle, it happened to find it's way in, it would be embarrassed on a national stage once again. They have simply run out of competent players on the defensive line to mask Bob Sanders gross incompetence. It's that simple, really. Last year, the defensive line was stacked with quality players and hid the fact that Sanders had zero imagination or ability to adjust his scheme, at least not until the end of the season when injuries had taken their toll and you saw the cracks start to show.

(I know, I know. Sorry. That was horrible. But how could I resist? At least it's topical.)

Pete Dougherty puts it in historical perspective:

A popular sentiment among coaches after a blowout loss, like the one the Packers experienced last night, is to "burn the tape" - meaning, don't...

...according to Jay Glazer.

Looking at the game again last night, I confirmed something (in my mind, at least) that I had suspected after the Atlanta game.

Mike Montgomery and Jason Hunter are set to return to action this week after sitting out the last few games due to injuries.

The Colts, in a losing effort, did provide one excellent wrinkle that Bob Sanders should try exploiting, especially as he has the personnel to pull...

Watching the Titans-Colts game last night, three things become readily apparent:

The Tennessee Titans are mad, bad and dangerous to know and present the exact opposite challenge to the Packers that the Colts did. Looking back at...

Yes, it pains me to write it, but Bob Sanders deserves a ton of credit for how he implemented and called the Packers defensive gameplan yesterday.

Welcome news.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Completely agree with Andy here on the Packers missing Atari Bigby. Peprah and Rouse have been absolutely pathetic while he's been out.

At the end of January, I wrote the following:
