Toast
The Packers Lounge will cease to exist tomorrow at midnight. Well, it might exist for a couple of weeks until the server shuts it down, but for all extents and purposes it's toast.

I really don't have anything more to say about it. It's been a great time, no doubt. Everything aside, Mike Florio sums it up the best for me.
"I did it in large part because of the reality that we get only one shot at life, and thus we all should strive to do what we enjoy, because we never know when it all might end."
It's really that simple. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has come around.
Except for Dale.
Go Pack Go
Jersey Al will play off the Lounge one final time tomorrow morning with his latest and greatest something.

I haven't been around as long as some, but this is the place I got my start on Packers sites (I know, I was a late bloomer for some reason) and it will always hold a special place to me :) Good luck with the future, Alex - I hope our paths cross again!
And of course...GO PACK GO!!

And here I thought I would have a very pleasant sunday after last night's game. Sad news. So are you going to contribute with other packer sites, like Jersey Al does? Are you still going to do Cheesehead Nation? Or you're just going to retire from the packer blogosphere??? This is sad news indeed...

I'm in shock.
Where is everyone going? The only other place where I post is Packers Home, where I use the same clever alias that I use here.
My life just won't be the same without having the opportunity to hear the interesting opinions of Jeremiah's Johnson.
Seriously, though, this is an absolute drag.

Packers fans, you can visit the Packerbacker blog for year round news and reviews.
Otherwise, to borrow a line from Jerry Steinfeld, "That's a shame...see ya!"

Did you give yourself this name?

The fire will still burn no matter what.
Adios PL!

As I guy that's been around since this thing was on Citizen Wausau, I'm really sad to see it go. It's the only Packers blog I read (Railbird isn't fun enough and I can't stand Aaron Nagler over at Cheesehead TV). More than anything though, I loved the twittering. Every morning I'd wake up to at least two must read Packer articles from somewhere on the net.
Good luck in whatever you do next, Alex.

I like to think of it as the end of free willy. Your skills are as big as a whale and the world is your ocean. And I'm the little kid who's crying at you to just leave because I can't bear the pain of seeing you go.
Seriously though, despite all our disagreements I really enjoyed coming here. Thank you for all the time you put in, both here and Citizen Waussau.
I don't want to see it go so much I've thought of creating a Funny or Die type site for Packer fans to posts fan videos, commentary, fan-fiction (i.e. Jersey Al), or whatever. Any fan would be welcome to post and comment on posts. Posts would stick out on popularity (or possibly contestability). Everyone once in a while a Brian Carrivau, an Alex, or a Dale Z could pop by to create there own. If you have any comments, advice or would like to help me out please email me at [email protected]...

We do definitely need a place for irreverent Packer fans to hang out. I'd be interested in helping out, if someone comes up with a good concept. A site where "anyone" can post could be a nightmare to administer and a sure attraction to troll attacks. Some compromise between limited writers and unlimited posters is probably needed. Maybe Alex can choose who he would consider the Lounge "regulars" and that can be the core group to start with. Others could be admitted as they earn their chops as commenters. Make any sense?

" Some compromise between limited writers and unlimited posters is probably needed. "
Good call. I was thinking of something that spreads the load, but it does the exact opposit.
"Others could be admitted as they earn their chops as commenters."
Makes much more sense.

Without a doubt, of the multitude of places I splatter my "articles", the Packers Lounge was unique and a whole hell of a lot of fun. The Lounge is what inspired me to do some humor articles along the way.
We definitely need something to fill-in the hole that has been created.

Don't make me get more emotional than I already am. I will miss the place ten fold no doubt. I just can't foot the bill anymore.
The place will be around until the first week of September until the contract expires. Undoubtedly, I will get bored and make a post or two until then. I think the chatbox goes down tomorrow though.
Again, thanks for all the kind words. It really, really means a lot.

Alex, sad to see the news. We were friends on Plurk back in the day and I've very much enjoyed your site. Reading about your first visit to Lambeau reminded me about my first visit there and your excitement for the team matched mine...which is a complement...hopefully. Best wishes to all who contributed and for a killer Pack season.

I am open to anyone wanting to write over at packerhq.net ..open canvas . A very good concept going by the wayside here folks.
Best of luck to Alex in the future.

Seriously, we can't let Packerchatters win. I've really enjoyed this site. I thank you for providing a wide range of insightful and entertaining content.

I hardly ever posted here, and most barely know me or know me not at all here. I feel like I have gotten to know many of you here, and just want to say thank you for what I have always felt was a fantastic website with some very good writers.
I don't know what has happened for this sad event to occur, but would like to say that all are welcome at PackersHome, and we do need writers there.
Again, sorry to hear about this, and again thanks for the many fine articles (and comments) I have enjoyed reading.

What the hell is going on? Why is this site closing down?
Man..I miss everything...
All I do know is that two-timing, backstabbing Tromadz is a skunk and an asshat....
and, of course, that Ted Thompson sucks...

FYI I had a huge outpouring of people willing to donate to keep the site open another year. If another measly $40 dollars comes in today, we will give it another run.

Man you sure had to pick a bad time for it I'd be more then happy to if I had the money, Just starting college in a month means not a whole lot of money, but I really do hope to see some people step up and offer some money. Good luck Alex I'd love to see it keep going.
