To Lambeau !

As promised, we offer something a little different this week to Packer nation. I would like to introduce David, a die-hard Packer fan from Missouri. Guess what? He's going to Lambeau this week.

As promised, we offer something a little different this week to Packer nation. I would like to introduce David, a die-hard Packer fan from Missouri. Guess what? He's going to Lambeau this week.

Not only is David headed to the holy grail of stadiums, he also has agreed to let us document his trip from his home in Missouri all the way to Green Bay and back.

David will be sending us pictures as he travels, and also providing us with live updates as he makes his way from airport to airport, and restaurant to bar.

Hopefully, we can all live a little vicariously through David and his journey.

I spoke with David yesterday, as he starts to plan for his much anticipated excursion to the land of beer and brats. He certainly is ready. David (or IronMan) as he is known around the Packer forumsphere has been waiting patiently since the notion of the regular season was still a pipe dream.

"I started planning for this trip back in April. If you want to stay at a hotel in Green Bay when the Packers are in town, you need to get it booked within minutes of the NFL Schedule being released. So as soon as the schedule was announced, I needed to decide which game I was going to, and get on the phone ASAP. I decided the Colts game would be my best bet, for a few reasons.

At the time, the Packers were in the process of deciding when they would retire Favre's jersey. I figured they would schedule this for either the Vikings game, or the Dallas game; both of which were nationally televised prime time games. And while I would have loved to see my favorite athlete of all time get honored on a national stage, I knew tickets for that game would be outrageous. Turns out I made the wise choice.

Plus, weather in Wisconsin in mid October is perfect for football.

After making my hotel arrangements, I could take my time booking my flight, and finding a ticket for the game.

So after months of anticipation, it is only a few days away. I am scheduled to depart from Springfield Saturday at 5:50am. I will arrive in Chicago at 7:30; and after a 3 hour layover I will depart for Green Bay, with my arrival time scheduled for 11:37am.

Phil (PWT36) from packerforum.com, is going to meet me at the airport in Green Bay, and take me to my hotel. After that, I plan on hitting some of the Packers hangouts, having a few cold ones, and getting something to eat. I also really hope to meet a few people from packerforum.com. There are a few people from the website that I know of that will be attending the game Sunday, but no plans have yet been made for a get together. I hope to iron that out the next few days.

Anyway, that's all for now. See you Saturday morning."

David

I really am looking forward to David's trip this week. Outside of all the news and hoopla, it's rare to get an up front and personal seat with someone as they travel on what is always considered a trip for the ages.

We will check in with David tomorrow to get his last minute thoughts before he leaves early Saturday. I'd like to know what he is taking with him, what kind of gear he is going to sport, and what he thinks are the essentials for any Packer pilgrimage.

Thanks IronMan for letting us peek into your Packer life. May you travel safe and keep us informed at every turn.

That's a handsome man.

Have fun. A trick I learned that if it's gonna be super cold, bring newspapers to step on, it makes your feet not freeze! Who knew?!

Hey Dale. Yeah bald is beautiful isn't it? It shouldn't be that cold Sunday. Game time temperature should be in the 50s.

Have a blast Ironman. Don't get stuck in the can before the game during the fly-over (only a complete idiot would do that!)
