Served: Mike Vandermause
How the hell does Mike Vandermause even have a job as a Packer's reporter?
How the hell does Mike Vandermause even have a job as a Packer's reporter? Seriously, this guy is about as talented as William Hung. His latest asinine article on the Packer's immediate need to pull the plug on Justin Harrell is just about as stupid and uninformed as they come.
Says Vandermause:
It’s time for the Green Bay Packers to pull the plug on the failed Justin Harrell experiment.
I thought you were supposed to be a professional Mike? Perhaps you are riding the wave of the fan here, but I was under the impression you had to have some idea of what was going on to write a story of that nature.
Justin Harrell missed one day of practice with a sore back, one day, in which he admittedly told our own Brian Carriveau (since you couldn't scoop it):
Just woke up with a little soreness,” said Harrell after practice. “Just taking a day of rest. Planning on being out there Thursday.
I can understand some degree of concern at that news. There is a history there, but so far, this season, Harrell has been performing well. If he says it's for rest, it's probably for rest.
What really irks me though, and shows the true slothfulness of Vandermause, is how he uses this back soreness to make his point about the Packer's cutting Justin Harrell without citing the real facts.
Harrell’s back tightened up, and he hasn’t practiced since.
Do you understand why, Mike? I mean you are a Packer's beat reporter and all. If you really were on top of things, you would have known that the man hasn't been on the field because his wife had an emergency C-section while delivering Harrell's new child. Did you miss that story, Mike?
The bottom line Vandermause is that you are lazy. I know this, because everyone that has ever worked with you that I have spoken with has told me that. You probably wrote this article on Thursday so you could take the rest of the week off, that is my guess.
That as it is, you just tried to crucify a guy without telling the entire story. Whether you left it out intentionally, just didn't bother to get your facts, or simply were to heavy footed to write a complete article, this Harrell piece is shoddy at best, and downright stupid at the very least.
We as readers have been dealing with this fifth grade type of story from Mike Vandermause for years. It's really no secret anymore.
What is a secret is how the hell he still works there?
The Green Bay Press-Gazzette must give up on Mike Vandermause.
Maybe they just have a soft spot for him?
You've been served... much like Justin did to this double team.

Someone had to do it

Good read. There are a lot of Justin haters out there, so my guess is Vandermause is trying to cater to those idiots. I am ecstatic that Harrell is stepping up and is healthy. With Jolly out and some new guys in, we need a solid Dline rotation.

Of course, Mr. Vandermause has his own tag on my blog...been ragging on him for years.
Harrell maybe destined for not making the team. We have no idea. But it is presumptuous when he's been showing signs of life this preseason (ahead of several other players vying for his spot) to think you have to pull the plug on him early.
But it is downright rude, if not malicious, to use his wife's emergency C-section as a lightning rod to send him packing.
Jayme may have hit the nail on the head on Cheesehead Radio this past Thursday, when she said that the timing of this family emergency may work against him, through no fault of his own, robbing him of some of the necessary time he needs to prove himself.
That may be true, but Harrell's done enough to warrant keeping him around until his play on the field (or being an injury liability for extended period of time) negates that.
I've never been on board the Harrell bus since the day he was drafted, but if you're going to keep a guy on your roster for three seasons in hopes he will eventually pan out, you best give him every opportunity when healthy.

I was pretty disappointed when Pelissero left the Gazette, and even MORE disappointed that I have to deal with Vandermause. Don't pay as much attention to the Gazette any more! Good thing Bedard and Wilde are still around. Also, Carriveau is the next Pelissero (if not better).

Kareem Copeland seems like a really nice beat reporter. The best from the Gazette by far.
The kind of work that Brian Carriveau puts out there is UNREAL.

Have to remember, the P-G also used to employ Chris Havel...

Oh, Bravo, Alex.
Agreed 100%. I don't go to the GBPG much anymore, because, quite frankly, it's second fiddle to the independent bloggers and to the JSO. I'm even visiting Wilde's blog more than I do GBPG's...

I fully expect JH to be on the team. As far as his contract is concerned, I believe he already got paid his guarenteed$500k and he gets an additional $600k if he makes the team. For that little bit of $ I think he is definently on the roster unless he breaks his spine in the next few weeks. I don't read Vandermaus at all but I do enjoy reading about him getting served.

I just emailed Mr. Vandermause a link to this story.

While I've been one of Harrell's biggest critics, I couldn't agree more with you Alex. I even tweeted Vandermaus, telling him he failed to mention the fact that Justin's wife had a baby Wednesday evening. I've criticized Justin when he's deserved it, but Vandermause's article wasn't fair at all.

@Alex: I couldn't agree more, i mean the guy just had a baby born. To a large percentage of people out there, NOTHING compares to that day and with that feeling of parenthood.
Like many of you, i don't read the Gazette anymore after Pelissero left, i just mostly follow up Kareem C. over twitter that's it.
On another note your videos CRACK ME UP, it is just top notch stuff right there, keep doing it man, great job.

I wonder if Mr Vandrmause or whatever would mind a PASS if his wife or husband just had an emergency C section?
