Quick Hits Rams
If you looked at my prediction for today's score you have to be impressed. If you want my thoughts on the game, they aren't nearly as glowing. Here are the Quick Hits.

Quick Hits
Sorry again, Ryan Grant sucks. Yeah, yeah, 99-yards, most of it garbage. He can't make a guy miss, period. Bring on Jackson.
Special teams were average at best. You can't start the game giving up a 40-yard return.
Johnny Jolly, the man again today. Fumble recovery and a blocked kick. Keep it up Johnny.
Still too many sacks, half on Rodgers and half on the line.
Mason Crosby, nice work.
Holy one-handed catch by Donald Driver. That better be number one on SportsCenter.
Did you see Rodgers give the baseball sign for safe in his first down run? Awesome.
Raji showed some strength, nothing special.
The defense seemed to make adjustments much better today.
What was up with Harris giving that wideout the business on the sideline. That ruled.
Saw Mr. Barnett making some plays. Some, not all.
Brandon Chillar really sucked today. Got burned in coverage the entire game and for two scores. All you Chillar lovers can shut it now.
New Packer Giordano showed that he is quite the hitter on special teams.
Kampman was average, but not terrible. The rest of the line played well enough.
Will Blackmon still looks slow to me.
Jarrett Bush still sucks as much as he did last week, perhaps even more.
The safety play was solid today.
We still cannot stop the run.
Tackling was better.
Aaron Rodgers is too calm sometimes. There was a scramble where he easily could have gotten the first down and kind of jogged out of bounds.
I heard someone say they are losing faith in McCarthy. I think it is way, way too early for that.
Grades
Offense - B
Defense - B-
Special Teams - D+
MVP
Donald Driver
Bottom Line
A win is a win is a win. Either way, this was the St. Louis Rams. Now that Brent got lucky (again), next week's game is a monster to say the least. I can't think of a more anticipated Packer game since the '97 Super Bowl . The Packers will not get it done if they don't improve on this week's performance. But, they took a step in the right direction.
Bring on the Queens.

The O line is no good. Gave up 2 more scaks and who know how many hits after pass and hurries. If they play like this next week Rodgers will be in a full body cast. This problem will limit the Packer upside severely.
_____
Defense needs to upgrade run defense or AP will kill them
_____
Crosby misses Xpoint (indoors)
_____
LB play must improve. If Favre sees Chillar playing safety he'll slice him up. Chillar at safety = 2 Td's against St. Louis. Minn? No please don't do that again.
Overall thsy didn't play very well. It was a win and I'll take. They need to accomplish even more in practice this week if they expect to win in Minn.

Hell I thought the O-Line did a sound job protecting Rodgers after a shakey start. Not so great at run blocking (still).
Ryan Grant is a very basic RB, he's not a game changer and never will be unless we find some pro-bowlers for our O-Line. He'll pick up tough yards but he can't make something big out of very little.
Sorry but Brandon Chillar did NOT suck, second TD he should have got safety help, first TD only happened because of Woodsons DUMB face mask call, we should have had them on 4th down and stopped their drive.
A.J Hawk ROYALLY sucks. The guy was slow and couldn't change direction quickly enough, he was SO bad at his tackles it was a joke.
Run D was average, I thought we'd give up more though and I guess it's a move in the right direction.
Drops, drops and more drops. Nelson and Jones bow your heads in shame.
Aaron Rodgers had some bad throws but he led the team well. If the O-Line can continue to give him time all he needs to worry about is whether his WRs can catch it/get open.
and finally.........JARRETT BUSH..... YOU MORON!!! YOU DO NOTHING BUT SPECIAL TEAMS, YOUR BLOCK WAS NOWHERE NEAR BLACKMON, YET YOU GET CALLED ON HOLDING...... PLEASE FUCK OFF AND DIE!
September 27, 2009 at 04:09 pm
Should say that Hawk led the team in tackles. Don't let that fool you, he got some easy tackles. . . . . I HATE HAWK (LOL :) )
September 28, 2009 at 08:16 am
Hawk had one, albeit pretty big, bad angle of pursuit. He was in on several tackles for losses and the very next time it was him and Jackson together, he changed his angle and got the tackle.
Seriously, hate on Chillar if we're going to hate on a linebacker. Hawk is doing just fine.
September 28, 2009 at 09:14 am
Sorry Erik but Hawk is a loser, and people who like him....... well.........
September 27, 2009 at 03:14 pm
Kuhn TD = Madden PA FB Flat.. awesome
Good to escape the game without any injuries.. Rams can't say the same
Blackmon rocked last year against the vikings.. although hes sucked so far.. hopefully he can regain some of the magic for next week
Hawk plays like such a d-bag its so painful to watch
September 27, 2009 at 07:26 pm
and the vikes have already given up two special teams tds this year. Blackmon could play a big role next week
September 27, 2009 at 04:00 pm
If Chillar hadn't play the game, it would be 36 to 3. That's a fact. He sucked too much today. Yeah, Hawk sucks too, but Chillar sucks more.
Line settled down after the first half. No, they weren't good, but with playing like they did in this game, well, better in the running game, but it's enough for us to be able to win. It's a huge improvement from the last 2 games.
Yeah, the run D was average. However, there were a lot of 0 and - yards plays, something that didn't happen against the Bengals. We didn't miss a lot of tackles. And with the way we force turnovers, that's good enough to keep us in games.
Rodgers was terrible, just terrible in the first half. Held the ball too much, and a couple times there was a receiver open, one being Jennings wide open in the endzone. He rebounded, however, and played almost like the probowler we all know he can be.
NICE WR reverse. It was about time we got a litle creative.
-
All in all, I saw improvement from the mistakes I saw last year and the last two games. I had completely lost the faith in MM, but now there's a little bit of hope. However, it was the Rams... Against the queens it's another deal.
Here's a prediction: If Jolly makes a big play, we win. If he doesn't, we lose. So Jolly, you piece of lard, chubbiest DB in the NFL, GO MAKE SOME PLAYS!
September 27, 2009 at 04:23 pm
"Brent got lucky"...right.
Sour grapes..Sour grapes and fear,,,
Rodgers is looking shaky indeed. Favre 300 yds and 2 TD's...
Not bad for an old man, eh..Thom P. Tedson?
You guys are going to be MISERABLE next week after the Vikings tear you to shreds...
hahahahaha
Oh..and Congratulations on beating the LAMBS backup QB...(Great feat there!)_
September 27, 2009 at 05:08 pm
^^^ One escaped the asylum.
September 27, 2009 at 05:40 pm
So it's not D.Levens anymore? Got banned eh? Changed nickname to JeffQuery???
September 27, 2009 at 07:30 pm
favre's on pace to have the most yards off a screen pass in a single season. He's a glorified game manager and he still had a pick today. It will be interesting to see how many he has against our secondary.
You're talking way too soon. After a battle like that, I wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota laid an egg next week.
September 27, 2009 at 08:04 pm
Spoken like a true "assholio"...
Game manager, eh..?
80 yards, no timeouts, 1 minute left....TD...
Game Winner.
You guys are so jealous it's not even funny...
You wanted Favre to be a "game manager" like AWAD is on Ted's crap team, and you are seeing the results of have a "game manager" now....instead of a WINNER..
Have fun with your crappy Green Bay Ted Thompsons...
They are going NOWHERE this year.
September 27, 2009 at 08:19 pm
and the best RB in the game (and maybe the best offensive live) has nothing to do with that win today. Game manager? yes. He's not going to be able to throw the bombs this year because he doesn't have the mobility to stay in the pocket that long.
September 27, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Quite frankly, I don't like your tone Jeremiah Johnson. Nobody likes a troll.
Get a franchise quarterback and get back to me in 10 years, then we can have a civil conversation.
September 27, 2009 at 06:00 pm
I would be lying if I said this game made me feel better but a win is a win. Rodgers needs to stop holding the ball so long a ton of those sacks and hurries are on him.
Ryan Grant ..gotta go with Alex on this one. He has issues and long term is not a franchise back...we need a change of pace back badly.
Defense still giving up way too much on the ground and considering this was the Rams yes we should be concerned.
Chiller can't cover nuff said
I hope we pull out a win anyway possible in queen land....time will tell.
September 27, 2009 at 06:48 pm
Brandon Jackson will probably be available next game. He's a change of pace back. But when Grant was able to get past the LoS, he usually got 3-4 extra yards by efford. He isn't a feature back by any standarts, but if we can set up the pass, he's more than capable of handling it. But when the D knows he's gonna run, then he can't get anywhere.
September 27, 2009 at 07:19 pm
I wish I had watched the game. The little bit I did see, Grant sucked as bad as the group project I was working on. If there was a game to miss though, it would probably be this one or Tampa Bay. Kampmann looked good, not great in the couple series I saw in the first half.
Rodgers is not going to last the season at this pace. His accuracy is off because of the pressure and if we're not careful, he healthy will be too.
September 27, 2009 at 08:08 pm
Rodgers started very shaky, but was dead on after the second quarter. And wasn't hurried much either. But it was the Rams. Chances are we're gonna be harrassed a lot more against minny. But I have a feeling our O won't have so manny struggles, anyway. I liked the way MM changed the playcalling. If he could just call some screens to keep the defenses safe...
September 27, 2009 at 09:29 pm
The Rams probbly have the weakest Dline we'll face this year. Barbre tried to make Chris Long look like an all-pro. Old man Little did likewise for Colledge. Laurenitis was beating Wells on a regujlar basis.Sitton was huffing and puffing and Spiz did a reasonably good job. The queens combined speed and power for their D line. A deadly combo. Let's just hope MM and Campen can get the best out of the O line and the Defense Puts a smacking on the Queen Offense.
September 27, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Lots of bitching here, considering that the Packers won the game going away. Chillar's failures are either on the DB's or the defensive coordinator. He is a good cover LB, but you don't have your LB chase receivers into the end zone one-on-one. That's not what LB's, even good cover LB's, do. That's just stupid defense, though I give the Rams credit for exploiting it.
We're still getting the "Rodgers held the ball too long" stuff, which baffles me. He got sacked twice, and both times it was because an offensive lineman got spun around like a turnstile and the defender was upon Rodgers very quickly. When Rodgers held the ball for awhile, the result was several completions, some incompletions (which are a lot better than INT's) and 40 yards worth of scrambles. I guess some people won't be happy until he just starts firing the ball into crowds of defenders.
I thought it was interesting that the Packers threw the ball deep so much. I expected them to go back to more short throws, but if anything, they went in the opposite direction. It worked. The long passes were the biggest difference in the game. But they won't be able to do that so much against better defenses (like Minnesota's).

Did you even see that game?
Best line? That is a joke...Minny's line is sucking this year..especially in pass protection.
Lack of mobility?
Come on..on that game WINNER, Favre made two guys miss.
So both of your points are UNTRUE.
But that doesn't surprise me. All you Packer fans are about SOUR GRAPES when it comes to FAVRE.
We'll see this week, won't we?
Favre will be PUMPED for this game.
September 28, 2009 at 09:31 am
Their pass protection is average at worst with the only real weak link being their rookie right tackle. He's been sacked almost as much as Rodgers and his protection has been much better. He didn't last 12 games last year and he wasn't hit nearly as much.
He has more yards off of screen passes than anyone in the league. Peterson is still the key to that team's success. Favre is just an insurance package against loading the box and even he knows that. It will be interesting to see how he fares against Mr. Charles Woodson and a defense that is among the league leaders in turnover production.
"Favre will be PUMPED for this game." No crap, but there's 22 people on the other side that will be too. And if you're knowledgeable of this rivalry you'll know Green Bay fans pack themselves into that dome and make themselves heard more than any other road venue.
September 28, 2009 at 04:23 am
I'm seeing improvement on this team. It's happening slowly, maybe too slowly for a win next week, but we're at least driving the ball downfield and keeping the Defense on the sidelines. However rivalry games always make it hard to predict, after all the Bengals beat the Steelers in a game most said the Steelers would win (yeah those Bengals, the team we lost to turn out to be quite good).
Like PackersRS I had lost a lot of faith in MM, and in the first half I was pretty much on the 'fire his ass' bandwagon. However I liked the fact he changed his game plan a little (adding a few slants to set up the big plays). It got Rodgers going, even set up a bit of a run game for Grant (I say a bit and I mean A BIT).
Now all sing ~ "You got to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time (it can't get no worse)"

Stan is a hater. He hates Hawk... And kills cats.
September 28, 2009 at 02:45 pm
LOL, I love you PackersRS
September 28, 2009 at 02:59 pm
The only reason why Stan hates Hawk, is because he tries to find a person other than Bush to pinpoint the problems. If he did, he fears he might be subjected to "THAT'S RACISM". Stan it's ok, you can hate Bush. Truth be told, Hawk's face does look a little "Lurch"-ish, and his long hair only makes him look closer to Trolls. I still love Hawk, who got the most tackles with 10 against the Rams.
September 28, 2009 at 04:03 pm
I'm so glad you've said that Mr Bacon. I feared the "racism" thing would be put upon me and I'm no racist, I just really REALLY hate Jarrett Bush. Yes, okay, I was using Hawk as a scapegoat, he's a cool LB with long hair and a face that belongs in UFC (whats not to like, oh and he got the most tackles with 10 against the Rams.)
Jarrett Bush on the other hand...... well............ sirs if I may........ I think he's is an awful, awful man who really...... and I know I'm getting harsh here but......... well ........... I'd say he's not very good at playing football .... (there I said it, I care not for the consequences)
September 28, 2009 at 05:02 pm
Amen, sir. Jarret Bush is indeed better of dea... released from the team.
When you're kept because of your "ST prowess", and you keep making dumb penalties on ST that just kills your team, well, let's say that in most organizations he would be long gone. But hey, maybe TT is going to pull a miracle like he did with Moll...
No, but really, why is Jarrett Bush still in the team again?
-
And Stan, don't go out giving any suggestions... People might actually believe that. ;) Lol
September 28, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Leave Stan alone RS. That's entirely legal in WI-- killing cats and hating jarrett bush. In fact, it's a healthy way to relieve one's hatred of Mr. Bush.
