Now What?

We lost Colin Cole, we lost Chris Canty. I am not assigning any blame here, but now we have a situation.

Our backup NT is gone for Seattle, and your top free agent choice just tried to play you like an antique fiddle. You didn't budge I guess, but now what are you going to do?

Ted?

Is it really all that surprising? TT needs to get off his ass and do something, but we know thats not his M.O. *sigh*

I am not spazzing out, I am just being honest. We know that TT doesn't do much in FA, that is just common knowledge. If he was "trying really hard", he would have put in an offer for him, not drag his feet and let Canty walk away without a try.

National Football Post says that the Packers offered Canty more money than the Giants. Even if this is the case, they had the opportunity to bring Canty in before Seattle (before his agent decided to leave him in New York) and just slow played it at that point. Looks like it bit them in the butt.

It may be more sympathetic if we didn't have a chance to sign canty who has reportedly reached a deal with the giants. If we're relying on Johnny Jolly and Justin Harrel as starters this year I will proudly root on the fire ted thompson chants

I am not surprised but I am disappointed. Not because TT didn't pay Canty $8 mil per year but that he seemed to be so "hands off" in the deal. It sounds like Ted made very little effort to get this guy. If he was seriously pursuing him he should have at least made a personal phone call to Canty's agent. Guess he was too busy working on his draft board so we can pick up another "best player available" maybe we'll get another running back!

Look at the bright side.. at least this ends the yearly fanning of Ted haters case on one front.

What case..

That did was quite in FA cause he didn't want to bring players in to help Brett.

Ted is ultra conservative.. that is a proven fact over the past several years.. not going to magically change course.

Losing out on Canty was a bummer of sorts, but him and Cole not coming to Green Bay isn't really that big of a deal.

Canty is a nice player, but hardly a game changer at end in a 3-4.. the money he received was a little out of whack.. but thanks to Snyder, things will be a little elevated early this season. 17.5 guaranteed, but Canty wasn't willing to make a visit here.. hmmm I am not impressed with that... he wanted to ink his deal soon and take the money.. I as a Packer fan am okay with not landing him.

The net effect that some of these deals will have on the market hasn't be felt yet.. more solid football players will hit the market.. patience.

5 solid Dlineman will give us a good rotation in the 3-4... we have 3 currently, the sky isn't falling yet.

I think you meant that Ted was "quiet" in free agency. You're getting closer. Okay, I'll stop kidding.

I would've liked to have Canty on board, but I agree with you that it's not a big deal to have missed out on him. And as for Cole, I'm not sure he would've even made the roster. I'm surprised there was any interest in him. Seahawks management must've seen something on the game film that I did not notice while watching the games.
