Kevin Carter?
Just an interesting little tid-bit to pass along, it sounds like the Packers are taking a look at DE Kevin Carter.
Just an interesting little tid-bit to pass along, it sounds like the Packers are taking a look at DE Kevin Carter.
The very last sentences of this article in the Milwaukee Journal about newest Packer Anthony Smith read:
"The Packers also have expressed interest in defensive end Kevin Carter, an unrestricted free agent from Tampa Bay who is coming off his 14th season.
Carter, 35, started at left end in a 4-3 defense. At 6-5½ and 305, he has the size to play end in a 3-4 and the flexibility to play tackle on passing downs."
Carter never missed a game playing in 224 straight. He is a former blue chipper and won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 1999.
An interesting name, and one that I that I can't remember being brought up yet.
EDIT: Milwaukee Journal Packers beat writer Greg Bedard added some more on Carter here.

Carter was a good player for the Rams back in the day. Greg Bedard asks a good question in his blog: Why are the Packers showing interest in Carter, but not Vonnie Holliday, who is a year younger?

Plus Vonnie played under and has a ton of respect for Dom Capers.

If IronMan likes him, he must be okay.

That's impressive. Maybe we're gonna bring him in to show Harrell what a real man looks like.

They still might be interested in Holliday as well-- who is only coming up on his 11th year not his 15th, like Carter. I forget who was saying that wasn't an option a post ago, but it obviously is. Why not get an experienced vet if he stats are still up there. It gives the younger guys a mentor of some sort and it buys time until you can find a long term replacement

What's funny is Holliday's stats are just as good as Carter and Carter played in a 4-3 which should give him more opportunities for tackles and sacks.

Dale I know I was hating earlier but imagine if the manage to pick-up Carter or Holliday and then Burnett out of Dallas, that is a pretty good showing in Free agency. Then you're drafting for depth and not to fill gaping holes.
