Williamses Suspended. Who Cares?
By PackerAaron
The news that Pat and Kevin Williams have been suspended by the league has caused quite a stir around the league in general and in Packer land specifically. Fans and media members are busy looking at the Viking depth chart to see who will be replacing the Williams Wall and how this might shift the balance of power in the NFC North.
Please.
How in the world does the suspension of two defensive tackles who don't play for any of the four teams the Packers face in December help the Packers win games? Because that's the only thing the Packers and their fans should be worried about.
On a side note, Cheesehead TV staffer and all around good bloke Donalds Designated Driver, has a great post up at his blog about why the Williamses attempt to bring a federal lawsuit to seek an injunction and delay the suspension will most likely fail.

1. I don't really want to make the playoffs just because some other team's players got suspended.
2. Not that that will probably happen anyway.

Thanks AP. One favor: could you remove my actual name?
BTW, I totally agree that the Packers winning out is the most important factor, here. I just think that given the slate of opponents, the possibility of winning out is not as low as you.

My immediate thought when I read that: "I wonder how Donald's Designated Driver feels about his name being posted here."

there's no reason we can't worry about the packers winning AND the vikings losing. we're not so simple that we can only root for one team at a time.

Two games ago, GB could have taken control and determined their own destiny. What are the odds of a team making up two games with four to play and two teams ahead of them in the standings. My guess is they are prohibitively high.

RLC: the Packers *play* one of those teams. One game behind the Bears is nothing.
Coming back from two games down to the Vikings is more problematic, except that they are the Vikings...

DDD - That's the one thing through all of this that keeps pinching me, saying "There's still a chance! The Vikings ALWYAS choke!" - But this Packers team just has so many holes on defense, I can't see them running the table. Hope I'm wrong.

Keep in mind, [jinx alert] the Packers by and large do not lose to bad teams. (Well except dropping two to the Bears last year).
I understand the Packers are in a slump (to put it mildly) but they have also played a brutal November. Tough games. Three of them on the road. The only bad team that the Packers played: they stomped.

DDD mentioned his blog before, and I was gonna ask where it was. Thanks for the link.

And of course, the Williamses filed in state court and got a TRO. For those that love posts about civil procedure. Check out my blog!
