UPDATE: For those of you questioning the Packers interest in Adams, does the fact that the Patriots are interested as well tell you anything? If any organization has shown it knows how to find talent and how to make low-level signings work, it's the Patriots.

Rouse v. Adams

Rouse more tackles last year in the same number of games.

Rouse same number of interceptions with more return yards.

Rouse slightly younger than Adams.

Just why are they talking to him? D-line and LB's TT.

They are talking to him because he has experience in the 3-4 (all he's ever played)Remember what Lombardi said - statistics are for losers. Watch them play the game Ron. Head over to http://www.nfl.com/gamerewind - sign up and watch Adams play before passing judgment on him....

If Safety is the need, talk to Leonhard. No offer from the Jets. Opps, he probably is asking for more money.

I don't pay the NFL anymore than I already do.

Playing safety in a 3-4 or 4-3 isn't really all that different, so I doubt that his experience is a whole lot of factor into our interest in Adams.

I would say his skill set with being solid in coverage is probably the flag that attracted us to him.

Collins is a athletic safety with a ton of range.. but sometimes has a mental lapse and gets lost.

Bigby and Rouse are coverage weak, they are more the enforcing type... Bush, Preprah, others.. are players failing to take the next step in progression.. we have to protect the backend of this defense.. especially with us talking about mixing in zone coverages... having a couple of strong coverage type players on the field will be a must..

Welcome Pack. Made the pilgramige from the Lounge I see ;)

You are correct about safety in the 3-4 or 4-3 not being that different. I should have been clearer with that comment. In Capers' system, the safety is the one who makes all the calls, not just the secondary calls. Collins doing this scares the hell out of me - he is as dumb as a box of hammers.

And completely agree that Adams' coverage skills are what are attracting the Packers to him, esp after watching breakdown after breakdown at that position in coverage over the past couple years...

As the jet lifts off the runway at Austin Straubel (sp?) and veers to the east heading for Logan in Boston, we say goodbye to Mike Adams. On to NE for their interview with Adams. The good news is they would probably use him as a backup. Wait, just what are GB's plans for him?
