Vikings in "Hot Pursuit" of Haynesworth

Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com reports the Minnesota Vikings are in "hot pursuit" to acquire defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins.

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has denied that talks involving Haynesworth have occurred, ESPN's John Clayton, via Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune, reported that the Vikings have contacted the Redskins about Haynesworth.

With Pat Williams turning 38 and entering what will likely be his final season in the NFL, and both he and Kevin Williams potentially facing a four-game suspensions related to the StarCaps case, adding the 6-6, 350-pound Haynesworth, who is unwilling to play nose tackle in the Redskins' 3-4 defense, would keep the interior of the Vikings' defensive line intact as they attempt to ride Brett Favre to a Super Bowl berth.
