Titans RB Stafon Johnson Undergoes Anke Surgery

Tennessee Titans rookie running back Stafon Johnson underwent successful surgery on his dislocated right ankle, head coach Jeff Fisher said according to John Glennon of The Tennessean.

Fisher said that Johnson, who also had a broken fibula and a high ankle sprain, could return in 8-12 weeks.

"I just think everyone is pulling for him," Fisher said. "How can you not pull for him considering what he’s gone through? Then to have that happen, in the first preseason game, is difficult.

"But injuries are part of it. You overcome them. He’ll put this behind him. It’s going to be great to have him around as he works through the rehab process. We’ll keep him busy."

An inspirational figure for overcoming a crushed larynx during a weightlifting accident last September to make it to the NFL, Fisher spoke to the officials before the game to secure the ball from his first NFL carry. (A six-yard gain in the 2nd quarter)

Johnson was injured after a 10-yard catch-and-run at the end of the third quarter during the Titans' 20-18 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night. As Johnson laid on the ground, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, Johnson's coach at USC, came over to check on him.

"I told him I loved him, and no one can get tougher or stronger than he is," Carroll said of his visit with Johnson.

"I was so sorry to see that," Carroll said. "This guy, what he's undergone to get here, so much pressure physically and emotionally, and to have a serious injury...If anybody can get back, he can. He's an absolute warrior."
