Tennessee Titans quarterback Chris Simms was arrested in New York City this morning for operating his motor vehicle under the influence of marijuana, Laura Italiano of the New York Post reports.

The 29-year old son of former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms was pulled over on West Houston Street at 2am. Simms was booked at waiting arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court this morning.

A former third-round pick (97th overall) out of the University of Texas by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003, Simms has completed 58.1% of his passes for 3,117 yards, with 12 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, compiling a career passer rating of 69.1.

Simms spent the 2008 season with the Titans before appearing in three games last season with the Denver Broncos. Simms was released by the Broncos after the team acquiring Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns.

Simms re-signed with the Titans in April, and will compete with Kerry Collins and 2010 sixth-round pick Rusty Smith for jobs backing up starting quarterback Vince Young.
