Texans Sign S Quintin Demps

The Houston Texans announced that they have signed free agent safety Quintin Demps.

A fourth-round pick (117th overall) out of UTEP by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008, Demps totaled 32 tackles with an interception and quarterback sack in 25 games before he was waived at the end of this year's training camp.

Demps, who spent last month with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League, joins a secondary that ranks 32nd against the pass, and has lost safeties Dominique Barber and Torri Williams to season-ending injuries.

Defensive end Jesse Nading has been placed on injured reserve to add Demps to the 53-man roster.

Houston has also re-signed rookie defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard to its practice squad.
