Texans Make Mark Anderson Signing Official

Nick Scufield of HoustonTexans.com reports the Houston Texans have officially announced the signing of free agent defensive end Mark Anderson.

Ryan Denney, who was signed last month after the team lost Connor Barwin for the season to an ankle injury, has been released.

A fifth-round pick out of Alabama by the Bears in 2006, the 6-4, 255-pound Anderson posted 12 quarterback sacks as a situational pass-rusher as a rookie. Anderson moved into a starting role in 2007, but managed just five quarterback sacks before moving back to a role as a situational pass-rusher in 2008 and 2009, where he combined for 46 tackles and just 4.5 sacks.

Anderson has 8 tackles and no quarterback sacks in four games this season.
