Tempers Flare at Vikings Camp
By admin
After nearly twenty practices, tempers boiled over on the final day of Minnesota Vikings training camp, Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune reports.
According to Scoggins, Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards shoved second-round running back Toby Gerhart, which led to a verbal exchange. Offensive tackle Phil Loadholt got involved, as did assistant head coach/running backs Eric Bieniemy, who was yelling at Edwards.
Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier attempted to pull Edwards away, and the two of them began tussling, which prompted All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen to play peacemaker.
"It happens," Edwards said. "It's hot out here. Some guys do things you shouldn't do in practice against other players. It happens but sometimes you have to let those guys know."
Though the fracas is being chalked up to the heat, a Gerhart chip-block on Edwards is what set the defensive end off.
