Taylor Mays Comments on Pete Carroll Bypassing Him

San Francisco 49ers second-round safety Taylor Mays on former head coach Pete Carroll selecting Texas safety Earl Thomas over him in the middle of last night's first round.

Via David White of the San Francisco Chronicle's Twitter feed:

"It was interesting," Mays, a Seattle native, said. "I thought from the relationship that we have, the things he had told me about, what I needed to be aware of through the draft process, things I needed to do, I felt like he told me the complete opposite of the actions that he took, which was alarming. The things he told me I needed to do as a football player versus the actions he took and how he took as a safety. I understand it's a business, but with it being a business, you have to be honest. That's all I was asking for.

"I look forward to playing for Coach Singletary 16 games a year than I do playing Coach Carroll twice a year," Mays added.

The NFC West just got interesting.
